I used cider vinegar instead of balsamic di Modena. I'm pretty sure he doesn't mean real balsamic, which costs $60 for a tiny little bottle. I also used tomato sauce instead of juice, cuz the smallest tomato juice was way more than I'd ever need.

There's cheaper Balsamic than blasamic di Modena. It's not as good, but still better than cider vinegar.

Balsamic di Modena is the cheap stuff. You can get it for like $4 a bottle. It isn't anything close to the same as real balsamic. Real balsamic is like a desert syrup: sweet, tart, and thick.

It's confusing because both types of balsamic are from Modena, but by European law, only real balsamic vinegar can call itself balsamic, so the industrial kind has just a slightly different name.

What do you drink with the meal? You know it's red wine with red meat and white with fish/chicken, right?

Also, don't drink diet soda. That crap really screwed me up a couple of years ago. Instead, find a spring near you and go get your own spring water. Boil it just in case.

I doubt it's the garlic, but just in case toss your garlic and get new somewhere else. Could be pestisides, or poison from that odd looking pimply produce guy with the thick glasses.

I would suspect the meat before the garlic. Did you have any symptoms pre-roast?

Actually, it strong with strong and light with light. A hardy chardonnay will not go well with fish but will with steak. A weak merlot (is there any other kind?) will go well with fish but not with steak.

Did you use any of the same utensils?

Do you use a dishwaser, or wash dishes by hand?

How about oils?

It just seems weird to develop an allergy to garlic.

Different utensils, different pots, different oil, wash by hand but that shouldn't have made a difference with something that sits in the oven for four hours.

The first time it happened I used garlic powder. Last night it was garlic cloves.

Well, it sounds like you need to do a controlled test to be sure. It might be painful to verify, but I'd rather have that then give up my garlic.

Yeah, it would be devastating when it comes to eating - it would make my life a much less rich experience than it is now. The thing about garlic too is that as well as it being a fantastic foodstuff in itself it is supposed to be remarkably good for you, and only the tip of the iceberg seems to be known about it...
