But it comes down to protecting the kids. They are the most valuable resource of the world, and that's a fact. And even though every citizen should be equal in front of the law, crimes against kids, such as molesting and rape, is often seen as more serious as molesting and raping adults. In both cases, the actor is most likely a sex criminal, a sexual predator. In most cases of pedophilia, the actor is mentally sick. I mean a sane person won't go about molesting little children. That fantasy is just out of their scope, because it's not normal, period.
However, most sex criminals will be the same no matter how much therapy they have. Just like violent criminals. It's in their behaviour and the way their brain works to stimulus of such. They can't silence it, only thing they can do is try to learn models of thinking where they go and seek help when they start having urges before it goes too far. If you ask me, that's taking a risk right there. You can give medicine to drug addicts, you can give nicotine patches to smokers, what do you give to pedophiles?
The thing is.. we KNOW this person is guaranteed offender in the future. Of course there' a chance he won't do it again, but that's like 1 out of a million. If I was in charge of this case, to let him out, I would ask myself, is it guaranteed that this person is now safe to society and children. If I can't come up with the answer 'yes', then he must STAY INSIDE. If I let him out and say 'well, I don't know, but he served his sentence now', I am fooling myself and letting myself out of the responsibility when the next kids get molested. I mean, we can look into the papers and see what the law says, but common sense, if the person is still dangerous.... lock him up.
So how do we know when they are not dangerous anymore? I don't know. We can never be sure. But there are cases were we can be pretty sure it will happen again, and in those cases we must put our foot down and say 'until you are safe to society, you will not get out'.
And that's the bottom line.

Lazarus said it perfectly. And it's a sad thing really. Then again, we don't have the macho culture, so it's something very unique and in order to understand it, you have to live here for some time. And notice how most locals do not know the difference between 'boyish high spirits' and crime, and violent crime at that. It is ironic that it is me who is raising the voice on this time after time. After all, it's me who LOVES fighting (in the ring), and it is me who thinks a man needs to do what man needs to do. But using common sense.
I take my personal space seriously. If someone makes a violent action against me, it is crime right there. I don't accept it. Many do accept it though.. because it's a chance to fight. If you get your butt kicked, that's life. When 5 guys come on stomp on your head.. well that's life too, plus bad luck. When you get stabbed, you might consider going to the cops, then again the stabber might come and stab you again, because no one can protect you and all you can do is buy a knife too and sharpen them and wait for the confrontation. ****, knife fights are usually seen as fair, if both drew knives. How ****ed up is that? Adn the 'odds are he won't die anyway' attitude is sickening. If you are going to be stabbed, don't think they'll thrust it into your side one time. No no.. be happy if it's less than 10 times into your chest and back.
Now, what are we going to do? Nothing. Figures. No one even raises their voice against violence. I truly do believe we are very violent by nature somehow. And we don't have macho culture, so it's in a way even more dangerous. You don't know what ticks off people. Looking at them might tick off the 'wtf are you looking at' *stab*. 'could you move dude, I can't ..' 'wtf?' *Stab*. Only thing connecting these cases are that they happen every freaking day, with no reason at all, and with normal people also, not just serial stabbers.

I'll buy a ticket to Finland to my worst enemy when I get one. Maybe fly with him too and buy a knife there if I really hate him.
Do they have knives in the prisons too? The child molester might meet a high boyish spirit fellow prisoner?
