A scholar recently declared that, based on more accurate translations, the number of the devil in the Bible is actually 616, not 666.

I was curious about a few things too. So I looked it up on Wikipedia. I always wondered why it's also a holiday they are thankful for american intervention when a scant 14 to 15 years ealier we fought a war with them (and took large areas of land from them). And accoriding to wikipedia, most american help didn't arrive until after the american civil war which was years after the battle of cinco de mayo.

I believe they used new technology to be able to read a previously unreadable greek language Bible found in an ancient Egyptian dump. It was supposedly one of the oldest versions of the Bible ever found or one of the oldest versions of the New Testiment any way.

Umm wrong, it's a federal holiday, the second most important of the year (after independence), and its not just "big" in Puebla but pretty much everywhere else. Every year there's a military parade in the city, the President goes, gives a speech about union and sovereignty and other assorted bullshit which no-one believes, and that's about it. I should know: I live in Puebla and was at the parade today.

The true phenomenon is why it is celebrated over independence day among the Mexican-American community. I have no answer to that.
