Ethanol needs subsidies to make sure that Big Oil does not try to crush it. Minnesota just passed a law that says all gasoline here mush have 20% ethanol in it by 2013. Farmers often overpower Big Business here, and we still have a strong Progressive streak. Minnesota has more co-ops than any other state if I remember right.
