Aren't hippos agressive? I imagine they'd be harder than a tiger, too, from sheer body mass.

If you stay far away, you just have to wait till it falls asleep - agressive ,yes, but no hunting instinct.

Hippos are pretty aggressive, but if this is a dry arena it's going to get very tired very quickly. Hippos have a lot of trouble without taking advantage of buoyancy.

You might be able to run one down (i.e. do some bullfighting on it)

Speaking of bulls...

If it's the size of the roman collisseum you should be okay with a hippo. A bull, on the other hand, would probably get to you.

Releasing a single copy of the ebola virus into the arena with me doesn't particularly scare me.

Plus, a virus is not an animal.

It's a conspiracy. In reality, they don't want us to know anything about them. There's a mosquito base in Siberia and they kill anyone who gets near it.

I'd much rather face a bear than a tiger.

Including a polar bear ? I think that such one would be the worst with a tiger as a close second.

That's not true. Male African bull elephants are very aggressive and among the most dangerous animals in the world. More people are killed by elephants than tigers every year. Elephant rampages occur on a yearly basis in the U.S., and statistically elephant trainers are in more danger than police officers.

I'd rather face a tiger than an elephant, just because I think a knife could hurt a tiger. It wouldn't do jack **** to the elephant. Wouldn't even know where to begin with an elephant.

Not that anyone would have much chance with a tiger, either.

You'd need a whole lot of experience and a whole lot of luck to face down a tiger or a lion. I wouldn't even think about fighting it - probably the only hope would be to force a submission and then stab it while it sleeps. Same thing against an elephant probably, if it did decide to get aggressive, although killing it would be far harder I think. Hobble it and slit its gut open probably easiest.

A rhino would be harder to pacify, but its eyesight isn't so good and you might be able to tire it out if you were very fit and good at running in circles. Just don't let it pick up any speed. Crocs and hippos, again you'd need a lot of circle running to wear them down, or preferably a tree to hide in.

A green mamba would be poo scary as well. Or a wolverine. Or a baboon even. Being charged by a baboon would not be pleasant.

But I reckon tigers would be the hardest. They're probably the most powerful creature per body size, and one of the only ones really equipped to take down animals as large as humans on their own.
