Don't feed them! That just attracts more and makes their population go up. Instead go to Wal-mart or K-mart and buy Diazinon Crystals which are an ant poison which works very well.

How to deal with wasps and bees

When one gets near you: Just stay calm and don't bother it and it won't bother you. Bees and wasps are IIRC attracted to scents (perfumes, colognes, cherry Kool-Aid that was spilt all over your shirt), dark colors, and sugary foods. If you get really bugged out, move slowly away, and if one lands on you, don't try to smash it or whack it off of you, but lightly brush it off if it doesn't look like it's leaving on its own. Whacking it will only agitate it.

If more than two or three of them start bugging you, you may well have walked too close to the hive, or are somehow pissing them off and in a territory you shouldn't be in. If it bugs you out, just retrace the steps you used to get where you are--if you take a different path out you might walk right into the nest (and for Space stepping on an anthill without noticing it, I think this may be literally possible )

To get rid of a hive or nest: Call a professional. Knocking a nest down with a water hose, I don't recommend to you.

HOWEVER despite how grossed out Eskimo might be at first, 99.95% of the bugs will not bother you. If you're outside your house, don't bother wasting your energy on getting offended or killing them.

If they aren't rifa, leave 'em alone. Ants help water and air get into the ground. Only mess with them if they're coming into your house. I'm at war with a small colony right now, but every time I lay down some bait, they move to another area.

Cat had a thought after seeing a slight depression under the rock, "What if instead of finding an ant nest, I find a rattlesnake?". So cat decided not to disturb the large chunk of cement.

edit: Ants work fast. There was a dead cockroach in front of the back door. Once they found it it took them all of about five minutes to chop it all up and start carrying it back.

We kill our fire ants with fire ant killer and lots of water (thats an important part of the process). I havent bothered to read what kinda poison it is and I dont care wtf else it kills if it kills the damn fire ants (and it does). Aerate the ground my ass! I also have a bag of the stuff that you spread and it supposedly controls them for a whole season, but I havent tried that stuff yet.

If you're in Albuquerque check out the scorpions at night with a blacklight. Send some pics. Fascinating stuff! No one knows why they're phosphorescent under UV light.

I saw a grasshopper just a few minutes ago though, want a picture of it?

edit: then again its a good thing that I havent seen them in my yard. My dog would probably try to eat it.
