Congress is going to trample my rights with drug testing faking ban.... Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

There were many cries as drug testing for employment became more common that it violated our privacy.....

Being hired is the employers decision-if they wish to make a drug test a term for employment, that is their perogative.

Now come law makers want to BAN various kits and methods that allow you to fake a drug test.

I do NOT do any form of drugs or even smoke. I don't even DRINK-I dislike alcohol.

I *DO* like my rights though!

If a company wants you to get a drug test that is fine but making methods that fool drug tests illegal, is oppresive. I have taken many drug tests as I have applied for many jobs and I have *NEVER* had to sign something to say "I don't do drugs"-they just give me the test.

If companies are having trouble with individuals aking tests.... ASK THEM AND HAVE THEM SIGN IT! Then when they lie, they could be guilty of fraud.

This is a blatant and unfair attempt at big buisness lobbying the goverment to steal away our rights.

There are NO justifiable reasons to make it illegal to fool a drug test when right now, the people administering the test could just ask. This is buisness lobying the goverment to opress the people to make their buisness go more smoothly.

All this does it take away my rights

*flips off Uncle Sam*

Well, it is kinda morally wrong, imho.

It's like cheating on any test...

That is why there are goverment bans on cheating on any sort of test.

Heck, why need legal contracts? Get rid of contracts! We should just making being dishonest illegal instead.....

Because we know that addicts/alcoholics are always so honest and open about their condition.

Suffering from ads?

Who cares if they lie? Any limitation on freedom, is a bad thing.

There are means as of now, to stop people who fake drug tests-it is called random drug tests during employment. Have them sign a contract which threatenes criminal prosecution if they lie about their drug status.

What if you are a recreational user? A few lines of coke on a Saturday night doesn't make you unfit for work on a monday morning.

In any case, I find it amusing what people get their knickers in a twist about. This? Doesn't bother me. DMCA and the new FCC HD regs? Those do.

You don't have to sign a contract to say you won't drive while you work for a company though, do you?

Knowing that information heightens the likelihood that you are taking coke at a time when it would make you unfit for work.

So what if they could detect alcohol say, a week after it was drunk? Am i unfit for work for seven days? Am I likely to turn up to work drunk?

No, because the vast majority of recreational drug/alcohol users are sensible people who know that work and getting leathered just don't mix.

Because people never get addicted to alcohol? Because alcohol doesn't impair motor skills? Because alcohol isn't a "drug"? Because people never feel like drinking whilst on the job?

I'm having trouble seeing the difference you're so clear about, Dauphin. Perhaps you should enlighten us poor rubes...

Nope.

I have had no sleep.

I went out to Mississauga this morning to finish the final paperwork for my course.

I have a class to attend tonight at 6 (I am being paid to attend lectures).

So I'm sitting in one of the study lounges at varsity drinking coffee surfing through everyone else's itunes share. I thought I had the most embarrassing music on my computer, but I was so wrong.

I'm so bored that I might watch one of the four Star Wars movies I have on the HD or play Vicky (that means read the Vicky Wiki for a couple of hours in puzzlement).

The guy on the table across from me has a Star Wars DTP with an embarrassingly bad pic of Natalie Portman on it.

I'd hit it.

Drug testing is not an invasion of privacy because you give the company permission to invade your privacy-or try to-sucess is not guaranteed.

This law-guarantees that invasion will be sucessfull.

Ignoring the difference in short term health risks, addictive nature, withdrawal symptons and long term effects of cocaine and alcohol:

Alcohol is not illegal. If you are a person partial to a drink the consequence of having a drink will not result in a criminal warning or conviction. If you are found in possession of coke you are liable for criminal prosecution. This will have direct consequences on your employment, and can disqualify you from numerous positions.

Alcohol is socially acceptable. If you were to have a drink at a works function, say at a meeting with work clients, or with colleagues after work, as many do, you are not causing difficulties for your company or firm by your action of drinking alcohol. If you snort a line you are creating problems for a company were that information to be made public due to that action being socially unacceptable. Consequence of your actions under influence aside.

Consider it thus:

Company President drinks a bottle of beer at family BBQ.

Company President snort a line at family BBQ.

Which is worse?
