I guess it is just the capital of your empire at the moment you "discover" that religion.

Nukes are!
Nukes are the best way to wipe out all humans in a certain region. After that move in your own muslim folks.

Of course there'll be a problem with some waste and fall out etc. though most muslim leaders don't really care if some more or less of their fellow followers 'fall out' or not.

I hope, I really hope you get to chose wich city will become the Holy city of your newly founded religion or at least it's gonne get chosen randomly. I'd hate it if it was to be the capital by default.

Tired of ads?

IIUC, it will be the city it's discovered in, not neccessarily the capital. I guess that means like the random city in which science and arts and such fluourishes when philosophy is discovered.

You don't need $1,500 for a new comp, $700 will get you a 64bit system.

Also, Jerusalem isn't the capital of Islam, it's Mecca. Claiming Jerusalem to be also be a holy city is a nice way of justifying land grabbing.

Tired of ads?

However, which city is chosen depends on in which order the game counts the cities contributions - so it could be very random.

But the statistics may be skewed by the way in which the cities are ordered, especially if you have a large number of cities and micromanage to make sure you overflow by as little as possible.

Better, IMO, to use the number of beakers the city produces/total beakers produced as the chance for the city to be the holy city.

Then your holy city will usually always be the same.

In all variations of Civ (I,II,III and CTP I/II), the order that beakers were applied (or gold/food/production for that matter) depended on the order that the cities you posses were founded.

With this in mind, you could concievably pick which city becomes the holy city if you meticulously MM and have a sufficent teck lead so that you don't have to worry about someone else getting the tech first.

Why? Even if they don't go to church, most people still believe in something. True atheists are still fairly rare. Atheism is a 1337 thing, after all.

Perhaps there may be a better measure for selection...I think that using beaker production per city won't make a blind bit of difference. Perhaps factoring in both beaker production and culture production in your cities may be the best way to select a holy city...

In any ways. I think that even if Firaxis doesn't include this very feature (choosing the ciy or at least making it random), I'll be trying to learn python or XML editing just to create that event...

Why ?

The printing press was ably used by the Catholic powers, such as the Venetian Republic- the Aldus Manutius set up shop there in 1488, reprinting portable editions of the works of Classical antiquity.

The flourishing print shops of northern Italy fuelled the scientific revolution that went along with the artistic & cultural revolution of the Renaissance and the Baroque era.

Didn't the printing press make Bibles much more widely available and therefore more accessible to the common people, which helped cause the Protestant revolution?
