Can you be the capital of more then 1 religion Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

If you are the first nation to "invent" 2 or more religions shall you then be the capital of them all?

Maybe could you even try to let one city be the capital of all religions, thought I fear that there shall be a LOT of wars about that city

You shall also have a very hard time picking a state religion, if you have many religions in your empire: no mather what you choice, there shall always be a lot of angry people

Well, on one of the screenshots, I believe we could see a city with multiple religion signs next to its name, so yes, I imagine you can have multiple religions in the same city and maybe potentially the same city being the hol city for multiple religions:

Check out Madrid.

Jerusalem would be obvious but probably incorrect:

Judaism - Jerusalem, of course.
Islam - Mecca. Jerusalem is #3 after Mecca and Medina.
Christianity - Rome. Moved from Jerusalem soon after its founding.

However, AFAIK the game should still allow it.

Christianity has no holy city, despite whate everybody thinks. The kingdom of Jesus Christ is not an eartly kingdom!

Though if you *have* to pick one it'll always be Jerusalem, not Rome

I think I read that cities can have more religious anyway (capital or not) so a minority of a city may be of a specific religion. I think keeping people happy really has much to do with the religion of the people. I actually like that.

I wonder if in the (post) modern ages people will lose their religion....

Heeeeey! From what was officially confirmed, aren't we missing one religion, which has been a source of some guesses? Maybe by religion they mean more broadly an outlook on the religious matters, so maybe the last missing one is something like atheism or agnosticism or something?

That line of thinking started after the Crusaders were booted out of the Holy Land.

It was a good thing that 'we' were booted from the 'holy' land for that reason alone

But, Jesus said those words about his kingdom not being of this earth century's before the crusades

Actually, Jerusalem was 'the capital' of Islam, or at least offered the destination in which Muslims were meant to pray, briefly.

" During the nine years of Aicha's marriage to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) she witnessed most of the major events that shaped the destiny of the first Muslim community of Al Madinah: It was during the course of their marriage that the direction of the Qibla took place, the direction in which Muslims pray was changed from Jerusalem to Mecca. "

http://www.islamonline.com/cgi-bin/...?service_id=706

Jerusalem is holier (being the site of Christ's crucifixion)for Christians than Rome- since Rome is 'sacred' for Roman Catholics, and not the Orthodox or Protestants.

Jerusalem is frequently (inaccurately) depicted on Mediaeval maps as being the centre of the world, showing its primacy to Christianity.

In any case, Islam's capitals were effectively Damascus and Baghdad and Cordoba, not Mecca, Jerusalem or Medina.

Which is a beautifully clever and realistic way of keeping people who're in the lead in tech from getting too powerful. It was one of the things that really made me smile when I was reading through the features thread.

I thought I saw that there was a slider devoted to religion as part of the "Civics" area. So I belive that you can ave a non-religious state (after you discover some technology).

...

I never saw it that way. That is clever.

I just hope we can have religion-specific units. Then you could change the religions to races in sci-fi and fantasy mods.

I suspect perhaps that one of the civics options may be secularism or something perhaps allowing you to not have the problems with benefits but maybe reduced benefits from the state religion or maybe no state religion at all. Perhaps some science benefits too

Large scale printing ? Paper making for a start.

Although Wycliffe used parchment/vellum for his manuscript, and his 'heresy' survived underground in England and in Europe for several centuries after his death.

I just can see it: The mighty Islamic China discovers the printing press, and suddenly turns Protestant! If that was going to be implemented, there should be a prerequisite of it being Christian me thinks.
