	So your king of America.... how do you fix it? Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

Congress and the people elect you to be king of America for 4 years-you have complete and total authority to act in any way you desire-completley ignoring the constitution if you wish, except for the following:

1. You want to make the country a better place and fix its problems, though that is of course relative.

2. You are altruistic. You can not act in a way for the purpose of bettering your own station or those of your friends.

3. You can't do anything to extend your four year reign, or effect the choice of the next leader.

4. The country has to have free, fair(an absolute) democratic elections when you are done.


Thats it....

So with your complete and total power, how do you fix the country?

1. No welfare; disability, unemployment, and family support funds only... FSF would be welfareish, but only as long as the person is a parent demonstrating that they are supporting their kids. FOr all others that need aid, they get aide, just not cash; a hot meal, bed, etc.

3. Medical Malpractice reform, not really sure of the details
4. Legalize MJ
5. Stem Cell Research legalization
6. Corporate Responsibility; they are the ones who demand the workforce, they should be responsible for them

1) Decimate the government on all levels. Go over every single department with a fine-toothed comb and eliminate every single redundant, useless, wasteful paper-pushing nonsense job we have on the government dole.

2) Streamline all government agencies, getting rid of any with duplicated functionalities, rolling them into those few that are essential.

3) Get our boys OUT of Iraq and Afghanistan. Bring everyone who had even a HINT of anything to do with the misinformation campaign that got us into the war up on charges of Treason.

4) Use the savings realized by NOT having an army in the field and NOT having so much waste in the government to pay down the nation's debt.

5) Provide generous tax incentives to the wealthy to create new business opportunities for the newly unemployed ex-government workers and/or give them low interest startup loans to go into consulting or other businesses for themselves.

That'll do for the first hundred days. More later.

Yeah, I know, but not near all of that $400B (soon to be $500B) is going to our troops actually risking their necks overseas.

1) DEBT REDUCTION
Mike Ross (my Congressman) was on C-SPAN last night, and he said, even MEXICO has $40 billion of our debt. That is ridiculous. There is no way the USA of all places should be in debt--it is a huge amount, by now, to overcome, but we can do it.

2) EDUCATION $$$ - GIVEN TO STATES
Education is our future and the states know how to spend it just as good as the feds do. (Specifically given to one state. Trust me, we need it more than the rest of you.)

3) EDUCATION $$$ - given to the feds

4) Pork projects

5) Govt housing

6) Welfare

I wouldn't do very much actually.

Just try to sort out the gerrymandering mess that is wrecking your democracy - if I could do that (so that most seats involve a proper fight over them as opposed to the 1 in 20 now) then I think the US's politics would be far healthier and the current downward spiral of partisanship and extremes on both sides would be reversed.
