	Women bosses? Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

My boss is a woman. It doesn't seem to be going very well. I do my job, stay attentive to my duties, and she goes out of her way to make sure I know I'm the lowest of the low. Little offhand comments, not replying when I say something... I really don't care about that. The problem is that other guys that don't do their jobs are treated much better. One guy who has the same job as I do just wanders around the place BSing, and I have his work load too. With him she's all smiles...


I've decided to get into my work and try to ignore the situation.

Have any of you had problems with women bosses?

No, mine has been great to me for 5 going-on-6 years and through 3 soon-to-be-4 different jobs. I love working for her, that's why I've sought to work with her at so many places.

Can you go over your boss' head to someone higher and file a complaint?

Well...I'd end up talking to the HR person and she's a umm...

Well... no I really better just do my work. I've had situations with male bosses that I didn't get along with and losing myself in my work provides a distraction and gives them no reason to complain. Likely that's the best option in this situation as well.

Keep a written record of incidents and check your state's laws regarding secret voice recordings. If it becomes a serious problem instead of an annoyance they may come in handy.

Now seriously... In my experience women as bosses dont give crap about your professional abilities. Is they dont like you (for any subjective reason)- you're toast...

Interesting thought. Recordings, hmm. Nah.

In the Phils we had our going away party on a rocky beach not too far from our house. I picked up a smooth, white, round stone and brought it with me to the US. I carry it in my pocket at work. When I have stress I roll it around in my hand as I walk. When we go back to the Phils I'm going to bring it back to the beach and toss it in the water.

Don't know if that makes any sense.

I've had a lot of female bosses over the years and I find that they run the gamut from excellent to complete incompetents. Same as with male bosses. Overall there are differences, but qualitatively I can't say that there is much of a difference.

I kinda have issues with my (female) boss. Her management style is typically awful. That's all I can be bothered to say about it really, I'm only at this job another two months anyway.

My boss is male, as is my supervisor during the evenings. However there are women who are allowed to boss me around because of thier position within the hotel, they are kind and ask me to do things and thank me when I get it done. They respekt my mad cleaning skillz.

Ive also had female bosses in the past, all of them very kind. The male bosses Ive had were kind as well. I think Ive just been lucky with getting great bosses.

It could be the fact you're noting she's a female boss have something to do with her reaction towards you? Any nonverbal cues you might be throwing off to indicate you disapprove of her (or verbal)?

I think the factor explaining why she is an ******* is the "Boss" part, not the "Woman" part. Bosses seem to be *******s more often then not.
