Maybe it's going to be an incentive for my company to agree to let me work from home, instead of having to drive 45-50 minutes to get here every morning.

Let's see, the economy is always at equilibrium even when it's not. Blah blah blah. That about covers it eh?

They really had nothing to do with anything. You just assumed that there wouldn't be the normal problems that there would be just as if the economy were at equilibrium.

I didn't mean to insult actually. Just commenting on the way that it appeared to me that you were thinking (or not thinking).

since we're part of the market, and you assumed the market does not react, we do nothing, of course. You've assumed away any possible reaction.

Other than I suppose a non-market one, like a state action. So we have the state make (by fiat) all the demand and supply side substitutions the market would have done. If you hadnt assumed no market reaction.

Right, but what should the state/s do? How would you use the oil that you had to solve the problem?

ya, thats what we are looking at here, how does the consumer change his consumption when the price of one good increases. (or, what actions can the govt do to influence changes in demand, and what is the cheapest way of doing it)

yeah, actualy it does, especially when comparing the effects of welfare, subsidies, and cash handouts, and the cost and effects of each on the consumer.

True, but the issue is macroeconomic, because it concerns the effect on the whole economy, and what govt action would, or wouldn't, be appropriate.

Full PM-box? Change here!

You can post in this thread or my skull sucking locust aliens thread, which is more realistic. Btw, when the aliens land and start rounding up humans for brain food, it will likely effect the markets.

I want to be perfectly clear on that.
