Well I am a nurse an i know what as happened to me. course i work in the O.R. and most of the time we dont get to eat lunch and have to stay 3 hours after our shift. I also work 3 12 hour shifts. I know how thats like I just started those a while back, seems the 4 days you have off would be great and they are but the 12 hours working your but off takes a toll at times. Sounds Mrs Flubber has a good deal if she rarely stays late thats good but that doesnt always happen. Just yesterday i had to stay 1.5 hours over cause nobody was there to help with an emergency surgery. Tuberski understands but the hours helped ruin my first mariage.

My wife works part time as a triage nurse in the local ER. The way her schedule is set up she works 4 successive nights, then has 10 days off.

2. I always get to play "doctor"!
3. Nurses are payed extremely well - it'd be really hard to replace that paycheck....
4. We've been together for 15 years now, and its probably just easier to keep her, as opposed to trying to break in another one.

I think the fact of less expectation to work extra is a function of the Canadian healthcare system as well. Mrs flubber also worked in the states (Texas) and she found in the US , the drive to be profitable meant that hospitals would employ fewer people as full time employees ( counting on less reliable casuals or part-timers to actually show up) PLUS they generally ran their units a bit more short-staffed than was typical in Canada

The thing in the hospitals here is not they run there units short staffed but rather they cant keep the staff cause the beat the **** out of them working them to death. This is one reason why i work agency nursing. I dont work staff at any hospital now. If u dont know what agency is ask the missus shell tell ya. i went agency cause if im gonna get my ass whipped i might as well make 15 to 20 dollars more an hour to do it. And I get to decide my own hours
