EXCEPT and this is a big one, you can't bring up the Iraq war. Keep that to another thread, anyone saying that is a good idea needsto be slapped outside the head. I hate to say this, but if you support that policy, your a moron,so keep it to yourself Afghanistan is fair game though.

SO let's hear it. He has been in office for five years, I want to hear some of his policies, which he has actually executed, that you support.

I just had an epiphomy and my epiphomy was this: Bush supporters have no ####ing clue about any policies Bush has done that they SUPPORT with the possible exceptions of the Afghani/Iraq war and POSSIBLY the tax cuts(which really don't help you...but that is complicated).

There will be people who claim his tax cut was a good idea. The funny thing is his tax cut for the rich is almost exactly how much the national deficit comes to each year.

Mostly his policies that have the rabid fringes barking like wild dogs at the moon.

Those are good policies. At least they are entertaining.

He's provided endless reinforcement to the idea that Americans shouldn't even be trusted to run their own affairs, let alone anybody else's.

Overall he's doing a lot more harm to his own country than he is to the rest of the world, so he's good with me.

I suspect the stuff I'd agree with is hidden, stuff done relatively quietly by Bush bureaucrats to lessen the impact of regulations. He's done about as good as I can hope on the 2nd Amendment. I like reducing (and hopefully eliminating) the death tax of course.

Such language invites trespassers... Afghanistan is fair game? You mean debatable? What was he supposed to do? Wait for the Taliban to hand over Al Qaeda?

And Iraq... bad move... Should have waited until we finished in Afghanistan... The evidence shows Saddam didn't hold the kind of grudge that would get him killed and end his dynasty. In the recent report from guards, he judged each president by how much they attacked him and not on what their predecessor did, so he understands our system enough to know the distinction.

But we needed a battlefield for the war on terror, one right in the thick of the Muslim world. Either that or we play police detective... How many would die if there was no defined battlefield? We placed a terrorist magnet smack dab in the hornet's nest and we haven't seen much terrorism outside the region. The irony is that IF the US had acted unilaterally Spain probably would not have been hit for helping. But we all know how Bush's partisan critics have been about the horrors of unilateral action.

Anyway, we had the option of putting this magnet in the ME and kill 2 birds with 1 stone - remove Saddam and let the Iraqi people have a chance to create their own destiny. Of course I would have left the region after the first Gulf War and avoided all this nonsense. Clinton and Congress snoozed while we got attacked for almost a decade.

To add to your question Dr Strangelove...

From his State of the Union Address, 2003:
quote:
I ask the Congress to commit $15 billion over the next five years, including nearly $10 billion in new money, to turn the tide against AIDS in the most afflicted nations of Africa and the Caribbean.

Did any of this money reach either region?

Hmmm....

quote:
The U.S. is a generous provider of aid to Africa, the mythology says, but Africa is corrupt and mismanaged and thus cannot absorb more aid. In addition, there is no room in the budget to do any more than what we are currently doing. This multipart fantasy is widely shared in the U.S. and recalls Napoleon's dictum that "history is a fable often told."

The facts are otherwise. Total annual U.S. aid for all of Africa is about $3 billion, equivalent to about two days of Pentagon spending. About $1 billion pays for emergency food aid, of which half is for transport. About $1.5 billion is for "technical cooperation," essentially salaries of U.S. consultants. Only about $500 million a year — less than $1 per African — finances clinics, schools, food production, roads, power, Internet connectivity, safe drinking water, sanitation, family planning and lifesaving health interventions to fight malaria, AIDS and other diseases.

Bush ain't no libertarian berz, I'm sure there's plenty of new red tape that's been piling on behind the scenes.
