As far as I can tell, first I made this the only highlighted entry in the final version of the tournament rules:

Also, it could be my philosophy that Civ3 is best played from a random start and a light hand should be used in balancing...

You said there was unlimited freeze time, then got cross with me when I moved flat and it took longer than expected to set internet set up there. You got cross with me when I didnt bother playing or sending the turn to a player who was on holiday.

It could be your philosophy, it is a philosophy I share if it is, but you said you'd balanced this map, and you had not. The others had river starts and luxuries and iron. I had some grassland, a 1 tile lake, desert, a pokey little penninsula and no resources. But I played on, becuase I trusted that you'd have balanced things.

I was beaten anyway. I had 4 units left, and absolutely no hope of achieving anything. I played out the game, and have only disbanded my cities now because i'd rather Bongo or Alex won than aqua, and because I dont want to cause any more 'problems' with 'turn sent' posts.

Attacked, not betrayed. I could say the same about when you and Bongo attacked me, but I haven't.

But I suppose I can understand you wanting me to die a horrible death under the circumstances. After all, the Celts have had it in for the Iroquois ever since they surprise attacked us many moons ago

Well since you insist on accusing me of betrayal, I shall elaborate.

What actually happened was that you were playing the turn and threatened me over MSN. I had no opportunity to move anything.....you then attacked. That's as much a surprise attack as if you had done it without telling me about it over MSN, particularly since up until then you and Bongo were trying to organise a dogpile against alex.

You had previously provoked me by settling closer to my territory than yours.....then you tried bullying my settler around and attacked me as I described above. Bongo actually agreed with me but opportunistically sided with you in the war, and together you subjugated me.

I didn't call it a betrayal then.....but I didn't forget. You made an enemy of me, as did Bongo....but I managed to negotiate a peace. And so we arrive at where we are today.

I told you the turn before. you refused to withdraw the settler. Your arguement over grand river is stupid. so what if it was 2 tiles closer to your capital than mine? if you'd wanted it so much you should have gotten there before me.

I'm not accusing you of betrayal, I am telling you I was betrayed by you. I feel it, so it is how I feel. I don't mind much, and am not interested in wasting more time talking about it as you try and salvage your reputation.

Seriously, Aqua was first attacked by me, then by you guys, and he not only managed to stay alive but is now actually the favorite to win this game. Hats off from me.

Maybe not, I kick myself for not following my instincts when my little baby, the all against SoZ-allliance, died. Deep inside I knew that once the alliance cracked up and we attacked aqua we should not allow him to survive. Sadly, I let moonbars persuade me to accept the peace, it took me several turns to realize what a mistake *that* was.



Oh well, I'm not dead yet.
