He was listening to an iPod. Unless he says he hooked it up to a boombox, he was using headphones.

And how is someone a few rows back going to hear the music from the headphones? When I have my iPod all the way up and I pull the phones from my ears and put them on my lap, I can hardly hear any music at all (definetly isn't louder than people jostling among each other on a bus... and MUCH louder than having a conversation with your friend).

I mean, expanding on the last point, conversing with your friend would be far, far, far louder than any sound escaping from a headphone. Would you think you were being rude if you were talking to a friend next to you at a normal voice?

Uhh let me see im sure the ipod has a bit more volume to it then a reg cd player. and for 3 months as i rode the bus i had to listen to the person to rows over with their headphones on up all the way and i heard it so please dont give me the crap that noone else can hear it. Listening to distorted loud music is very ****ing annoying.
@ Mr fun While I agree that smoking where its not allowed is not right I dont see as that whale boy was being considerate of the other passengers either they were both in the wrong. for whale boy to result to violence is way the **** out of hand.

I agree with you in that Whaleboy was lucky to not have been arrested (which would have been a justified arrest) but I just thought you went overboard when you said one should retaliate from annoyance with loud music by blowing out seriously deadly second-hand smoke.
