Hi there.
I haven't read the entire board, so forgive any redundancy.
I'd like a "rally point" for military units to go to upon being built.
I'd like a default build order for new cities.
I can live without the palace. If it's still around, I'd like to be able to turn it off.
I think there should be some "blank" civs so you can use the Civ editor more freely without removing any existing Civs.
I had a thought about civil wars: several adjacent cities in disorder could "rebel" and create their own civ! It would automatically be at war with you, with a negotiation option that allows you to placate it somehow--I'm still considering what that would require--and bring it back into your nation.
After much thought, I've determined that the game doesn't need naval technologies earlier in the game, as I have believed for a long time. The simplification of the map simply doesn't allow for the island-hopping that allowed early humans to colonize much of the world.
Perhaps a "maritime" trait that allows civs like the Phoenicians, Polynesians, and Vikings additional movement, reduced shield cost, or UUs would help retain that flavor without affecting the game much.
I know I had more ideas that I'd like to see in the game, but now that I've hunted down this board, I'm all blank.

While I do disagree with Kuci's outburst, all of those things were already in Civ, which makes this whole thing rather pointless

Rally points, default build orders and maritme traits were present in C3C. I don´t think they´ll be removed in Civ4. As for the civil war idea we have at least two threads on that topic. I like the idea of civil war I´m not so sure about removing naval tech early in the game though, it´s a vital part of gameplay when you use archipelago maps. Granted I don´t use those maps often, but I still want to have the option of creating a island empire

Well, as far as rally points and default build orders we don't really know if these things are in Civ4, do we? So it's not bad to have a remdinder of them here. |
No, they're not confirmed in cIV, but I don't see how they would drop them. Rally points fit perfectly with their move to a RTS-like interface, as they are included in most RTS games. They have also stated countless times that they want to make cIV more accessible. Removing either concept would seem to make pointless extra work for your average casual player.
I forgot to mention this in my first post: Welcome to Apolyton, Lloydbrown

But remember that in Civ3, many and many complained about culture flipping that would suddenly make them lose a good city. Well, civil wars can make you lose half of your cities. I don't really think many would be happy about that. |
Well, people aren't happy about getting invaded by the AI. Nothing risked, nothing gained. I don't understand why this one particular potential setback is so odious to people. It may have been done in an arbitrary fashion before, but the concept is not inherently so.
Potentially, a civil war could make you lose more than half of your cities. Let's say you're Yugoslavia. You lose Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, and Macedonia, while keeping only Serbia and Montenegro. You could also lose less than half of your cities, like how Russia was the majority of the USSR.
