I've traveled Canada. Its a great country. Quebec is not the most boring. Thats a rediculous statement.

So basically Montreal has a vibrant night life (unlike other major cities, apparently), a "european culture" (does this mean uncivilized, like the European culture discussed in this thread?), a lively minority community (not like other major cities!), a big music festival (which one is this, I've never heard of it), a sports community consisting of the Habs (which SUCK), and Just For Laughs.

Yes, Canadians (particularly Ontarians and British Columbians) are lazy people.

I've been advocating removal from the UK monarchy for a long time.

Montreal Jazz Fest is the largest annual musical festival in North America.

We have the Habs (which were the last Canadian team to win the cup ), as well as the most succesful CFL team in recent years, and the championship winning Impact.

And yeah, alot of qualities Montreal has can be said about many major cities, but fact of the matter is that not all provinces can lay claim to them.

The Jazz Fest would be interesting if everyone liked Jazz.

And the Habs sucked last year, pay attention. Didn't you see their playoff runs? Clearly if you were a hockey fan, Calgary was the place to be last year.

Habs got farther than the Canucks and Oilers and Senators

Oh, and now its pretty obvious you havent been to the Jazz Fest.

Its a Jazz Fest by name. It has absolutely every kind of music you can imagine. Hundreds of concerts with millions of people in attendance.

Think a Live8 concert every year.

*edit* forgot the Leafs got past the first round too

Yes, the Leafs, Canucks, Oilers, and Senators all suck -- I'm FULLY in agreement with you on this.

Flames > Habs, though.

Looking at the Jazz Fest schedule, the biggest names I can see are Patty Labelle and Jacksoul...

Not quite Live 8...

meh, i meant more in terms of grandeur than who we have here.

But any one of the bands at the Jazz Fest can put on a great show. Not all the Live8 bands were really fun to watch anyways.

I don't. I figure a republic will feel the same need to spend money on the presidency, so you aren't saving money by dropping the monarchy.

Rather, people like the ties to Britain, as that is one substantial difference between Canadians and Americans.

No, even if they won barely, Tampa was not nearly as exciting as Calgary was to be in for the playoffs. It's not as hockey-mad as Calgary is.

Tampa won with Canadian talent and because of a bad ref call.

Hahaha, with Iginla making what hes making? Calgary better try to make a new deal with him.

Yeah, i know the Habs aren't any better with Brisebois (who absolutely has no reason at all to have been making 4 million).

My point was the new CBA will help all Canadian teams (except Toronto possibly) to compete.

I hate people who define their nationality by being different from Americans.

We have a very different government, even if we get rid of our ties to Britain anyway. I think the UK is a disgrace, personally, and want nothing to do with them.

I'd beg to differ, that the ties to the monarchy have stopped having an effect on Canada.

I can see why someone from Quebec would feel that way though.

Why must we drop everything that is important to English Canadians?

If people find it important that we have ties to a bunch of incest PR whores, then they need to get their priorities straight. It's even worse if they think it's a major definition of who we are as a nation.
