SO the "union" ends.... how would you see the states dividing up? Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Discussing this briefly in another thread

The scenario: The federal government has been dismantled and now only exists essentially as a ghost, the only areas in which it has authority over the states are in area of standardizing transportation, communication, commerce, and in organizing for the common defense.

The rest of the states either become independent states or join into small confederations with neighboring states, that grouping becoming what is in effect now the new federal government.

Which states do you think would form up into blocks?

The way I was thinking it was.....

California, Washington State, Nevada and Washington probably go one way.

Texas goes its own way, might take Oklahoma with it.

Florida DEFIANTLY goes off on it's own-it is liberal surrounded in a sea of conservatism.

Main, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island would probably all go together.

New York and New Jersey would defiantly pair up, probably bring along Connecticut.

I bet you most of the south would stay together.... unsure if Virginia would stay though.

So you have north and south carolina, georgia, alabama, tennessee, kentucky, arkansas and mississippi.

NO clue where Loiusiana would go.

Mid west.... not sure-I am not sure how that would be carved up.....

Hawaii and Alaska... no clue.

Post.

Politically they are different.

I had thought however that a significant part of the population was related-was I wrong?

Oklahoma is nothing but an bloated Indian reservation.

Texas should leave, forming a close relationship with California and Florida.

Who cares? AR will kick all ass

Seriously, when the "union" ends, no returning this time. All hell breaks loose, US descends into anarchy. People aren't loyal to their states like they used to be.

Western Washington, Western Oregon and Northern California band together to form Ecotopia.

The urbanized chunk of California from Santa Barbara to San Diego becomes Pacifica.

The area along the Mexican boarder from California's deserts to Dallas becomes TexMexAmerica

The sprawling emptiness to the east and north of these three nations becomes Frontiere, best known for having miles and miles of miles and miles.

Traveling east, when the land begins producing carbohydrates rather than hydrocarbons, you're entering The United States of the Great Plains.

From Dallas to Central Florida to Virginia to Tennessee, there is Dixie

Miami and southern Florida become the northernmost province of Cuba...or rather, Cuba becomes Miami's southernmost suburb.

South of the Great Lakes, north of the Ohio River is Rustoleum

Washington DC to Boston is the citystate of Averice

The states north of Averice become Maritime provices of Canada.

Edit: Alaska becomes its own nation and joins OPEC

Hawaii also becomes its own nation and becomes the playground of the Pacific.

You know this would happen eventually.

Speaking of which, I find it ironic that both sides after the election of 2004 thought that the blue states should secede.

Many have been made, but so far I've yet to come across a good one that deals with the whole political and social aspect in an interesting way, as opposed to a simple slugfest.

Bah. Civ isn't completely about warfare (Although most scenarios have been with warfare)

If it was done in Civ4, could replace religions with philosophies for it. Spread liberalism across the former US!

Got spare money?

*EVERYTHING* in civ is about warfare, preparing for warfare, getting better technologies FOR warefare OR... defending yourself incase OTHER people want to declare war on you.

The only way to win Civ games without exploiting AI bugs is with massive military power(even if it is to discourage others from attacking).

Zkrib is the man. So is DinoDoc and Odin.

Hawaii would either restore the monarchy or would join in a 'pact' with Washington, Oregon, California, and Nevada (Cause of Las Vegas).

I'd guess that the Western half of the US would join together. I don't really have an opinion about the rest. But I'm pretty sure Texas would become a Republic again. And New England would go back to 'Old England'.

Evidently Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, PEI, Newfoundland, and three territories got relocated to Mars.

Either that or naming four of ten provinces is the limit of the capability of an above average example of your education system.
