Just watched the highlights this morning, if Souness isnt gone before christmas ill be surprised, he looks ready to go.

I heard him on a SKY interview saying he wouldnt sign a player unless he was world class, and if they didnt get anyone, so be it. What a tard.

Spurs of course top of the league. If Jol can get Kuyt from Feyenoord and not overspend on Jenas, it could be our best season for a long time.

Put an end to popups!

I like the look of Spurs. Once Davids and Carrick gel and King comes back (and maybe Jenas in front of them) they're going to be a big hassle to break down. Defoe is looking sharp too. I think they'll push liverpool for 4th place and the way things look now I'd say it's 60:40 that Spurs will finish above Liverpool.

Another team that's looking quite good is Charlton. Now i know they've played promotion teams, but their midfield looks a lot more solid with Smertin in there, and bent looks like a bargain.

I wouldnt go that far, 5th wouldnt flatter us though, and if we live up to half the hype (and avoid injuries) we should make it.

I've heard that rumor. It'd be nice, frankly. I have a feeling that the squad we got right now is going to our squad at the end of the transfer session. If we somehow manage not to lowball Deportiva for Luque, it'd be a welcome addition, though I wonder then which of the 5 man midfield would be taking a seat.

I also don't think Jenas is going anywhere. I know that Newcastle isn't going to take anything less than 10 million pounds, if straight cash. There is talk for a player for player deal plus cash... the papers are saying for Keane and 6 million pounds, but I just don't see it.

Nah, he's being groomed as Newcastle's next manager.

Spurs look excellent at the moment. Davids had a blinder.

Some great goals as well, most of all Drogba's exquisite knee.

It was a bit lucky but as Wenger said it was bad defending because he shouldn't have been allowed to get into that position in the first place to get lucky.

Not as convincing as the win in the Charity Shield but Arsenal didn't really have a chance all game either. Henry was rubbish.

2 games, 6 points, that's all that matters.

If it was getting towards the end of the season then I'd agree with you, points are the be all and end all.

But form *DOES* matter this early on, if you havn't got it your luck will run out and you'll drop points.

Inflate your Upload Space

We started last season relatively poorly too, had a lot of 1-0 wins and in the end we ended up scoring nearly as many league goals as Arsenal.

Since Chelsea raised the bar last season you can barely afford to draw a game, let alone lose one at any time in the season.

And some teams can do it, Blackburn, ManU etc.

Anyway, 1-0 home win against Arsenal is a much better result than a 1-0 home win against "Premiership Whipping Boys" Sunderland.

Don't flatter Mikes ramblings with the word "analyzed".

Form does matter, I just don't see that winning a home game we were expected to win is a bad thing....?

If you want to talk "form", we played *FAR* better the week before away to Boro and only came away with a point. Our points total is more than justified by our form, Chelseas isn't.

Chelsea also has to get all its new parts (SWP, Crespo, Essien) integrated into the lineup. They went through the same thing last season. Once everyone is comfortable, they'll show proper form.

The more I read your post the less it makes sense. I havn't contradicated myself anywhere.

Chelsea get an undeserved 3 pts
Mike says the points are all that matter
I disagree and say form is important
Mike says Chelseas win is "better" than Liverpools
I point out that you can't do anymore than win and get the 3 pts, no mention of "form"

Where have I contradicted myself over Liverpools form? Weve played two games dominated them both, drawn one and won the other?

Well you say form is important and then turn around and say, well you can't do anymore than win and get 3 points. It's a valid counter argument for your 'form matters' argument.

It follows from your strange idea that MikeH was saying that beating Sunderland was a bad thing. Basically MikeH can say the exact same thing to you when you criticize Chelsea's play.

"it follows" that you are putting words in my mouth Imran. Stop it.

The Arsenal (and Wigan) game was a good result, but if I were a Chelsea fan I'd be (other than a noisy southern nonce) conerned about the manner of those victories. Mike isn't. The reason I'm happy about the Sunderland result is that we won AND played well.

Yeah, but "you can't do anymore than win and get the 3 pts". Furthermore, Chelsea and Arsenal both had the same number of shots, but Chelsea had more on goal. They also had 51% of possession. Where is this horrid form I hear about?

And from Soccernet's article, at least, it seems that Liverpool put together an altogether disappointing performance. Even though they had all the shots and possession, seemingly Sunderland put on a defensive show when Liverpool should have put them away.

I'm not putting any words in your mouth really, just pointing out how you aren't making too much sense .

Well who am I do argue with double talk like that

I hope we have many more disappointing performances with all the shots and possession
