If Newcastle can get £10 mill for a player like Jenas then good luck to them.

It seems to be little above that... is what Arsenal and Tottenham seem to be offering. Of course we won't buy anyone with that money..

mind telling us who you exactly who you're thinking of?

jenas, never been a big fan of his, but he's a still a young lad and with a bit of luck wenger could make him into a top quality player, also it's about time we signed an englishman.

talking of which, why oh why are we not trying to sign michael owen?!

Is Spurs' plan to try and buy every central midfielder in the world and then play a 0-10-0 formation? It's beginning to look that way....

I don't understand why there is a queue of English teams beating down his door to get him to sign. I'm not sur he'd fit into the Chelsea system, but Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool should be desperate to have him. He's a fantastic players and £11million is a huge bargain.

It makes no sense that no good teams seem to want him.

Most of the top Premiership clubs have more strikers than they can play. Even with Saha never fit Man U have plenty of strikers (and I'm not sure Owen and Rooney would really work together). I'd be very surprised to see him back at Liverpool. Benitez strikes me as a very ruthless manager and having got rid of Owen when he wanted to go, I can't see Rafa taking him back at any price.

Arsenal may be his best chance if Wenger decides to sell and buy but it's getting a bit close to the start of the season for that now.

hehe, Owen and Rooney better play together as they're together in the England team. Sven must be hoping he goes to ManU

I don't think Owen leaves Madrid, but if it does it seems the only one talking about getting him is Newcastle.

Owen's agent said he'd only consider a team in the champions league. That rules them out.

Well, he missed his chance at that when he left Liverpool. I see Owen is now claiming that he's a better player for his time at Real. Sounds a bit desperate. I'd be surprised to see him in back in the Premiership this season. He's probably better off trying to find another european (Italian?) club where the turnover of players and staff is a little less volatile than at Real.

I have to say I don't think much of Owen and Rooney together for England when I've seen them play. I'm beginning to think Sven has lost the plot. That most likely means the FA are about to offer him another contract extension and pay rise.

Agree, he can afford to be picky. Its not like he even needs regular first team football to get picked in the WC squad.

Yes, and we've said we'd be prepared to pay for Anelka and then offered Fenerbache 6 million pounds for him.

Owen has hinted that he would like to go to the Prem, but hasn't said that he'd reject Newcastle.

Bingo... I mean if ManU called and offered him a position, he'd probably have ruled out Newcastle in a heartbeat.

While he may prefer CL football, playing every game in the season probably has more sway than being the 4th option at a loaded Real Madrid.

IIRC the money for Rooney came out of this seasons transfer budget, they overspent last year because they were worried that the player might not be availiable (or still at Everton) to buy in another year.

And after the big debt . Granted, that's true, but from what I've heard Newcastle are offering 11 million pounds. That's not extravagent, and it's a way for Glazer to show the fans that he's not Mr. Evil.

Shame Everton didnt beat Manure, they were much better first half. Everton definitely need a decent striker, Beattie is useless.

Beattie doesn't really fit in to the whole Moyes style at Everton. It was suprising they bought him last year in the first place.

Even though Rooney got them a massive amount of cash, they sure miss his scoring touch.

Liverpool were pretty crap too. Even though Morientes got 2 the other day in the CL id still play Cisse up front, even Baros looks sharper.

Morientes played up front on his own today and Gerrad had 4 of the best chances of the game...
