Forgetting Liverpool for the moment there are some other very good teams that Everton could be drawn against. Inter, Monaco, Ajax, ManU etc.

I reckon they'd prefer Liverpool to ManU or Inter... I would anyway.

There are some unseeded banana skins for the seeded teams too. Real Betis and Udinese for two. Don't know how good Slavia Prague are but Sparta Prague were very good last year.

It was an enjoyable friendly.

They filled up the lower bowl pretty well (~31,500) so there was a good atmosphere, even though there were 65,000 empty seats left in the stadium.

We do this every couple of seasons, sign someone out of our league, they play out of this world for a season or two then leave. Davids is not the player he once was (which was world class) but hes by no means "past it".

Define "past it" then, hes better than a lot of MF's among the mid to upper table teams, so what if we only get 1 or 2 seasons from him, the squad is young so he'll have a good effect on them.
