Suffering from ads?

Some of my family is very tech savvy and into computers. Some have trouble even sending email or get terrified of letting their kids play any computer games. You would think a truck was about to hit their kid after they see their kid near a monitor with a game on it.

Glenn is quite pretty.

Its weird when you have a boy and you meet a girl's parents because you want them to think you and your son "okay"

Glenn? I don't want to worry you AH but isn't that a boy's name?

Part of this is that actually growing up using computers from the age of four or so, the time in your development that is best for learning is spent using computer, to the point where I bet there are some fundamental differences between the way the native generation and the immigrant generation handle them. I also think know that those parental controls are pretty useless. AH's kids could just download FF and use it

Depends on the persons. I do know some people who are over 60 and keep up with the latest in techs and gadgets; there are excellent tech experts of that age as well. However for the most part, the older generation is indeed unwilling to use new technology, especially the more complex ones. Ask 50 year olds why they are not good with computers. Mostly, they'll say they don't want to bother.

Yes, but why is that? Why do we seem to lose touch with our times as we grow older? It's not necessarily about technology...

The value of money seems to be another thing... When I was a kid I used to get money from my grandfather's sisters for birthday presents...

Two things always stood out (and I know I sound like a spoiled brat now... ):

i) money was easiest because they didn't know what kids my age liked (board games, computer games etc)

ii) the amounts were very small...

They were generous persons; it was just that, to them, those amounts would have been staggering to receive (at that age)... They had lost touch with the prices of everyday things...

Of course, there are persons who stay on top of their times until the end... But it seems more likely that the world becomes more and more incomprehensible (technologywise and otherwise) to us as we grow older...

I can understand the technology part... Because I'm lagging behind already... But the rest...

So he is trying to rattle you, to get you to step out and change yourself.
