i) Why are you a **** up?

ii) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (a cliché but, like all clichés, true)... There is a person out there that'll love you exactly as you are... It's only a matching problem (ie finding each other), which admittedly is difficult to overcome... If your weight really does bother you, surely there is something you can do about it?

example A

I have been at a party, and am taking the metro home. I see this other girl nearby who is returning to College Park from the clubs...

We start talking, it turns out we are both from small towns, and other shared things, we hit it off pretty well.

We get to the stop closest to my home, she says something about wanting to see me again, and that she is a English major.

Now what do I do? Do I ask for her number? Or arrange to meet up?

no, instead I say something to the effect that since I am a physics grad student that I spend all my time in the lab and never go to the english building, stumbling in my speech the whole time (I was fine before this)

btw she was pretty also

I started kicking myself the instant the metro door shut

that is what I mean by a **** up, similiar things to that are how a fair number of things that were sort of promising end..

Sounds familiar. This is why I know it is me. Not me because I am repulsively ugly, me because I subconsciously think I am, and it is paralysing. You split down the wrong path of lovelife earlier on in life and it's had this knock-on effect, which is a vicious cycle. I know I said I wouldn't talk, but it sounds so damn familiar. But of course, so many who have had quite normal sex lives think they know it all. They know one dimension of the story, that is all...

First, what's a normal sex life? People seem so obsessed about being normal, especially regarding this subject... As if there is some "minimal standard" to measure up to...

honestly, I don't want to have sex with someone unless I am in love with them

so the virgin thing isn't the real issue

it is that I am bad at finding love (it seems so strange to me:

you have to find someone who you like
and who likes you
and who is available
and things can't mess up too badly

seems like it would be hard to occur to me, especially if you meet few women... I guess I need to get out from my computer and video games more often)
