Yes I know there is a thread about a november release but I thought and still think it is interesting to discuss a POTENTIAL release in september. It is probably just a false rumour but I for myself can't say that for a fact yet.

Cut a noobie to this forum some slack.

Firaxis themselves speak about November 2005. I've never seen a game or any other software being released before the date set by the editor themselves. Not having delays is already very rare in this business

Anyway, any release date before June 30th, 2006 would be too early to get an halfway balanced game low of bugs.

Have to agree with SIr Ralph.We have seen rushed games before and mods can only do so much if the game is poorly balanced.
Also they will need the time to plug holes in the AI which can only be done by many hours of testing. Think about the amount of time put into major mods and its easy to see that balancing is hard work
Late November would be great time as most people have a long weekend around Thanksgiving .

It´s obvious that some sites and web stores (Amazon ) go out with an earlier release date to try to make a quick buck on unsuspecting eager gamers.

I'm more than willing to wait. This is what the damn publishers need to know. They think that people won't buy a game if it doesn't come out on time. We will buy the game.

We prefer a game without any major bugs in it, and with all the major features working.

Oh, come now! Surely you appreciate that the buying public will be much better than any number of playtesters at finding bugs in any game. Tens of thousands of players vs. a hundred or so playtesters -- a hundred times better at least!

I am confident the game will be released in perfect timing, whether it is late September or mid-to-late November. Personally, I am betting on EARLY November, maybe the last of October.

yes we are better, but as I said in the other thread, I do not want to be a guinea pig, or unpaid tester.

I expect the game to work. And all the major features should work. Sure there will be a small bug here and there.

and I'll use the same example in the other thread. Play the world. The main feature was multiplayer play. Multiplayer didn't work when the game shipped. We had to get a patch for it to work. That is unacceptable.

Are you content with the concept of getting the game and being upset when it has minor bugs? If not, are you being a "yin", a naysayer?

And what about what you think are bugs, but are actually game design choices?
Maybe you just enjoy being angry & upset.

So you think it's okay that multiplayer did not work in Civ3: Play the World when it first came out? That was the main feature touted for that expansion pack.

I never encounted too many bugs with Civ3. Nothing that prevented me from winning the game at least. I heard there was some problem with bombers, but I guess I never used them enough to find out.

but you have seen my example for the first civ3 expansion. that one did have bugs.
