I didn't play a lot of multiplayer. Most of it was pbem anyways (none of which I finished ). I played a couple of games direct. But never got out the ancient age. I just did a horseman rush and crushed my opponent. Civ3 was better in single player. though some of the scenarios that came with conquests might have been fun in multiplayer. They aren't too long. As long as they are balanced, they could be fun.

Apparently Take 2 has changed their realease date from Winter 2005 to Coming Soon... Does this mean that there may be a September 30th release after all? Or is it a sign that we may have to wait until Spring 2006?

Or maybe it just hit the 4-month mark, so the description changed automatically to "coming soon"?


By the way, I own a game, released in 2001, which is still on version 1.0, with no major (not even medium) bugs, and no patches. I finished it twice, without crashes, and am still playing some custom campaigns, still no big issues (better custom AI, though). No, I do not mean Minesweeper.

That lenghty prelude was for this statement: I know for a fact that a big game can be bug-less on the day it hits the stores.

If you look at the site who started the september rumour, http://www.gamershell.com/news/23334.html, they have now backed down and says:

Update: 2K Games rejected the release date, the game will be available in late 2005.

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

well.. what is "rumour" about a store projecting a release date? Retailers get their release date from publishers.. this is where either the community gets dissapointed because they get a buggy product on time, or a better prodcut, but Waaay past their projected "release" date

No, retailers sometimes make up their own release dates because they either want increased traffic to their site and to trick gullible people to buy the game there earlier. Or by believing a false release date from a romanian (!) gaming site...

I'll go check the release list downtown and check if it's actually 2k who set the sept. 30th release date since NO ONE reads romanian news sites...

Instead of complaining it isn't true, figure out where the september 30th date comes from.. since it's older than the romanian news post..

Ehh, check all you like. The fact is that gamershell directly referred to the romanian site ComputerGames.ro for this "news". The fact that 2K Games leaked a earlier release date exclusively to a website in Romania is not very likely. Donīt you agree?

I'd like to see the date from my local retailer first.
If he has a piece of paper from the distributor with a date on it .. I'll believe that.. what I don't believe is that all kinds of retailers or browsing all gaming sites all day to adjust release dates based on speculation.
