What do you think the best feature of Civ 4, which we know is in, will be for you?
Do you like the pretty graphics? Or perhaps the slick new tech tree, or maybe it's the return of wonder movies?
For me, it's all about the atmosphere with Civ games, so I have to say my favourite known feature will be the pretty graphics and the return of the wonder movies.
I hope the soundtrack is epic in nature as well, or I'll just have to put the "Last of the Mohicans" soundtrack on in the background....

The gameplay fix of «expansion is the only way to go» problem that bugged me ever since Civ1. I really am looking forward a cpu not aiming to colonize every single freaking desertic tile on the map. it was also, for the multiplayer human games, the only option that lead to a win.
Then, there is also the religion system I can't wait to try.

rotfl!
Very true. At my age, you can imagine what my friends think about me... Such grown man acting like a teen!
Man, I love it!

slightly off topic...
Let's face it: most of us, Apolytoners, are considered insane people at some degree by family, girlfriends, wives, friends and so on...

I just read the PC Gamer article from a while back, and in it Soren says that Great Leaders may become the most talked about new feature.
In response to that, I am now pleased to announce that Great Leaders will be my black sheep of things to look forward to.

Yes, I too wait for the vid of Yin eating the Civ4 box.
|
Oh, my God: video of Yin eating the gamebox seems as appealing to Poly people as next Quentin Tarantino bloody box office success.
May be in a few weeks we'll see Yin at David Letterman Late Night Show
Meantime, as in real Hollywood style...
"Yin, suddendly a Movie Star, asked for a stuntman for the dangerous scene of eating the cardboard for real. Some cutting & pasting & FX on the tape and we are beliving into anything".
"Mr. Yin, Mr. Yin! Can you please sign this gamebox for my son? Would you kindly bite it a bit into a corner? Just a bit, not through the whole DVD, please. Thank you, you are so kind and also you look better live than on your photo on the forum."
BTW, I wonder if someone at Firaxis is so evil to send to Yin a "special tin box edition" of the game. That will really ruin the day, I think
Just kidding Yin, just kidding.

It is, Yin, at least for all the player, not because you'll end eating (small part of - ) the box, but because that's an official statement about a great game of Civ. The sacrifice of a bold, heroic man for the better of many... sort of.

Since there is some chance I might actually have to eat this darned thing (or "part" as the contract states--I think the marquee side of the box should suffice), I'd be open to some recepie ideas. |
Good point. A friend suffering for a bad taste of the box is not anything I want to see. Maybe Firaxis will be kind enough to make a special edition in cardboard, available in mint, strawberry, orange or lemon.

Dinner: Cardboard carbonara (cardboard chunks stirred in with carbonara sauce atop pene pasta)
Any ideas would be helpful. |
Well, my first strong suggestion is to mind at the kind of pasta you order. I know I do myself lot of mistakes writing in english, mistakes everyone here forgive for gentleman agreement, but I can't keep from underline the right italian name of the pasta you mention is "Penne" (two "n"), while "pene" is the anatomical part that mainly differentiate male from female.
Putting back something serius...
Anything is far from sure, but Civ IV moddability can save the boat just in case something goes horrible wrong.
Religions and Civic models can be marginal or relevant, it really depends from balancing of effects.
I have no real hopes for the combat model, nor I'am amazed for the graphics.
I'm positive enough
