What historical period is missing? Increase the size of your Attachments

What era of scenario is most lacking in Civ2? Or what kind of genre? This could also be sci-fi or fantasy, but be more specific.

I'm thinking that there's no scenario about the Spanish Succession (Marlborough), and few examples of Victorian sci-fi (War of the Worlds).

Well Victorian Sci-Fi/War of the Worlds is just the way to describe my little project that is "The World of Jules Verne".

I'd also like to see a scenario about late 18th century warfare, specifically scenario's such as the Seven Years' War (featuring fighting all over the globe) as well as the American Revoulution. Between the two idea's its the Seven Years' War I'd be most interested to see, as it would essentially be a world war fought with 18th century tactics and technology.

Hmm, good question. If it's an epoch in history, it's probably around the time of the Dark Ages. Most scenario sites have a little Attilla and Arthur and not much else. Of course, it is a relatively unknown period, but compared to the absolute swarms of colonial, Napoleonic, and WWII scenarios, etc., it's got tiny coverage.

I'm trying to do a King Arthur scenario at the moment (I'm lazy and have other stuff going, so don't get your hearts set). I've only played one KA scenario, and it wasn't too accurate (starts in 750 AD?). I tried to download another one that sounded VERY faithful to Geoffrey of Monmouth (Arthur vs. Hengist), but the zip was unusable. I'm going for a middle ground between faithful history and total Arthurian romance; it pits Arthur, Cornwall and Wales against the Saxons, Picts and Scots. I've worked out what I think is a fun little system to simulate the relative isolation of fortified Dark Age cities. So Arthur is challenged to not only conquer Britain but also to civilize it.

Any event in America from the Revolution until the beginning of the 20th century. There are a few scenarios depicting events, but most of them are quite old and in need of an update.

There's a serious famine for ww2 scenarios...

Regarding Spanish Succession, I believe Patient English has done one or is working on it.

I was about to start working in a Seven Years' War scenario a while ago, but dropped it in favour of something else. But it has great potentials for a nice and balanced civ2 scenario. I also have some units and such laying around for it if you're interested.

@Starstock: Where's that at? There was quite a flurry of activity; it seems pretty quiet now. Have you run out of inspiration?

@Elok: Did you ever check out Mr. Temba's multi-part Arthurian scenario? I think I have it on my hard drive somewhere.

@our-man: Maybe I should revisit my War of 1812 - the first scenario I ever made. Certainly a major remake of Nemo's Civil War is overdue. BTW, weren't you talking about a Sein Fein scenario sometime back?

@varwnos: It's an interesting war - the prelude to WWI. Will you tackle it?

@Broken-Erika: Have you tried Mike Daumen's Rise of Muscovy scenario? I think it's on the Spanish site.

@SetuSinger: Me too.

@Eivind IV: I don't think John Ellis has worked on that one for over a year. I'd love to see your SYW stuff. Will you post it?

I found Daumen's "Moscow" scn and Temba's "Enemy of God", along with a couple of other early Arthurian scns on the Civilization Scenario Collection, here: http://csc.apolyton.net/ CSC is an excellent resource for early scenarios (it hasn't been updated since 2000).

@ techumseh:
Sure I'll post it, but not quite yet. I'm not in reach of my personal computer and probably won't be until Sunday.

More ideas:

- Battle of Hastings, 1066
- Rise of the Ottoman Empire
- Battle of Austerlitz
- Battle of Waterloo *

* I started that one also a while ago, but dropped it when I failed to find any good source maps to draw the map. If you are more succesful in finding a map, then I still have the order of battle and some units.

Definitely 1776: The American Revolution (I noticed this after I got into Colonization again: the only thing I've been able to find is a graphics update for the one that came on the Microprose CD, which was just so pathetically easy it almost wasn't fun...)

And I've always wondered why a scenario based on the USSR vs China (like that EXCELLENT Rising Dragon one, but during the border skirmishs in the 70s), or the Iran/Iraq conflict never seem to have been considered...

The Franco-Prussian War of 1870

The English Civil War has only spawned one scenario. Or how about the Indian Mutiny, Crimean War or Zulu War? There are very few Renaissance scenarios around as well.

It isn't just eras that have been missed - whole countries are pretty poorly served when it comes to scenarios. Hopefully the SC5 will sort that out in the case of India.....

Hmm, thanks for pointing out EoG. I saw it and assumed it was some kind of fictional crusade scenario, from the title. It's downloading now, let's hope it transfers legibly (I tried Legend of Arthur II a few days ago, and the ZIP was unreadable).

As to neglected countries...I'm not familiar with a lot of what's out there, but how much attention has been paid to the Aztecs' conquest of Central America? Not the Spaniards' arrival and conquest, which I'm sure has been done a billion times, but the Aztecs' rapid spread over the Valley of Mexico prior to European arrival. The Aztecs were a seriously freaking disturbed culture (ripping children's hearts out while they were still alive, yum!), but at the very least they'll be interesting as a scenario.

Okay, it's downloaded and it seems legible. We'll give it a shot.

Here you are. I have slightly modified this map (originally HT's Atomic Eagle I believe), and attached a pack of units and such. The units are modifications, by a guy whose nickname I can't remember, but they are based on Fairline's early Napoleonic units. Good luck!

I started work on a Northern Ireland scenario a few years ago; I had a map, placed some cities, created some terrain and tossed around a few ideas. It wasn't a Sinn Fein scenario par se - the concept of the scenario was that of a military invasion of Northern Ireland by the RoI in the aftermath of Bloody Sunday, 1972, to protect the Catholics in the province.
