Time machine wonder Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Build the thing and you can send back to your civ any single modern unit, such as armor or a battleship. You don't want to send it so far back that you can't buy fuel for it...

Then you have to replay the entire game from the date you send it back to.

Just for yucks.

Another litmus test for the moddability of Civ4, if this is possible to mod, then just about anything will be, and it may make for an interesting mod.

As for being included in the official release, not a snowballs chance in hell.

Platypus Rex, talent there is, but you ask the impossible! How do you have a wonder permit you to send a unit back in time? Also, there is a time line that would exist though certainly the unit would create a paradox, much would not be effected. If a unit got killed in combat that wouldn't change. If a city built a granary, that wouldn't change, many things would remain the same. Volcanos...

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

According to the theory of the multiverse, the unit would create a new timeline.

btw.
It´s a nice idea, but better suited für CtP2 as the tech-Tree of this game goes farther into the future.

That's what I was thinking. This would require the game to store every turn as a save game for when the player decided to go back in time. Talk about hogging drive space.

And, of course, it would be useless in MP games.

My personal idea of time travel in a civ game (or a sci-fi mod/scenario) would be where when a nation gets close to discovering Time Travel, it starts gaining information and material from what the game equates as a probable future. Perhaps gaining the technology necessary to look into the future could mean an increased tech discovery rate. Perhaps when it's combined with other tech (or a national wonder involving such technology), a more physical link could be made with the game's prediction of the future, in which you could bring in a few units or resources or whatever. ...although chances are you'd lose some of those same units later on as they then go back to that earlier time.

Well, well, I already use some kind of time travel with Civ III Conquest: it's under the shortcut CTRL+L and let you go back to autosave of last five turns (anything between 250 to 5 years, IIRC, depending on era).
It's disguised as "unfair, losers practice", but it's possible and pay a big reward when you are playing in deep night and almost fall asleep clicking the wrong command... Life is short, enjoy it quickly.

What? Are you kidding? We have *proof* that Time Travel is possible. Want to see it? Every intelligent race that has ever discovered time travel eventually wipes itself, and all traces of its existance, out.

Now, Time Travel, for us, is impossible. The proof is that we are still here.

There was a Civ style game that shipped with that "feature". Wasn't it CtP?

I know SMAC keeps a set of auto-saved games going back to about 40 turns prior. It's not all 40 turns... It only keeps a subset of the saved games.
