Paddy says:
yes indeed he is
Paddy says:
sorry
Paddy says:

Paddy says:

Paddy says:
or part of R/L when the Horde gives him time off
Paddy says:

OPD says:
my connection dies, whenever I get into a threatening position
Paddy says:
hehehe
OPD says:

Paddy says:

OPD says:

Paddy says:

...
Paddy says:
it has to do with turn speed
Paddy says:
we are curious on a few things
Paddy says:
1. recently you have been talking on turn rates at 48 hours
Paddy says:
may we know where 48 hours came from
OPD says:
that's not really a turn rate, that's just how long I'd wait before playing someones turn for them
Paddy says:
hmmmm
Paddy says:
just on, all teams had agreed that the admins were supposed to step in at 24 hours with no notice
OPD says:
wouldn't want to play someone's turn after 24 hours for a few reasons, the main one being that so many times it has been passed that it would seem harsh on the team that actually got punish by it
Paddy says:
no notice from the team that is
Paddy says:
ok well said
Paddy says:
but now we have teams like Babylon who are well past 24 hours and have yet again, AGAIN siad nothing
Paddy says:
andwe see many of their active members everywhere
OPD says:
if I could draw a line and say from now on it really does have to be <24 hours that I would, but I can't even carry out that promise over the next month or so as I'll be on holiday
Paddy says:
we understand
Paddy says:
and in that we (all team leaders) will need to get another of the admins active, or we need to add another admin
OPD says:
that would be good
Paddy says:
heres is my teams biggest hassle...
OPD says:
yes?
Paddy says:
we are 16 members strong, most of us work long hours, and we scattered all over the planet
we time manage to get on line and play as a team time and again
yet when teams like Babylon constantlyu ignore simple rule of playing with in 24 hours, or posting a note to say when they will play, then time managemnt is out the window
Paddy says:
then people start to leave
Paddy says:
all because some one team nearly everytime does not play or post
Paddy says:
and that team is also on the verge of being eliminated
OPD says:
Babylon is the team that ET is in, that he is possibly the only member left in?
Paddy says:
so all my team is suffering
Paddy says:
No there are several members
Paddy says:
still here
Paddy says:
Kloreep, Skrobism, Planet, E_T to name 4
Paddy says:
all active
Paddy says:
E_T is playing in the c3cisdg, and several pbems
OPD says:
sry about that
Paddy says:
Paddy says:

OPD says:
sry about that
OPD says:
ok, I'll say something to them via email
Paddy says:
now, I know we are not the only team that is sick of this matter
Paddy says:
we get an email from 1889 often, also aqua, snoop and ormuzd
Paddy says:
thus isolating babylon
Paddy says:
I take it you have 1889's latest ermail
OPD says:
yes
Paddy says:
and babylon hae 6 hours before 48 is over
Paddy says:
our concern is they are playing this card deliberatly
OPD says:
who plays the save after babylon?
Paddy says:
Desolation Row I think
Paddy says:
I will go check
Paddy says:
we all appreciate that skipping a team sux
Paddy says:
that none of us would like that
Paddy says:
and we are all into giving teams grace
Paddy says:
The threads are ful of that
The following message could not be delivered to all recipients:

Paddy says:
DR play after babylon
OPD says:
ok, I'll play their turn tonight and send it in the morning if it hasn't been played.
Paddy says:
yet the teams feel that Grace ned not apply when we have NO notice
and they do this nearly every turn
OPD says:
if someone from their does play it and send it before then, we'll sort something else out
Paddy says:
ok
Paddy says:
as being Horde captain I am trying to step carefully on the Public Threads
Paddy says:
frustrated I be
OPD says:
well we'll see how long they take, perhaps having a turn skipped could be the final nail in the coffin for them, although them leaving altogether may be a good thing....
Paddy says:
I think I will start a new thread on this time issue
OPD says:
hmmm, wait untill tommorrow
Paddy says:
well they still could be a great player in this game
OPD says:
just incase their turn is played as that would look like it came from you kicking up a fuss
Paddy says:
may I ask what time frame - tomorrow means?
OPD says:
hehe, about 8/9 hours from now
Paddy says:
yes thank you - good point
OPD says:
you know Civ 4 will be out real soon
Paddy says:
8 - 9 hours, tx, gives people a timeframe etc
Paddy says:
civ 4 indeed
Paddy says:
one of the reasons we ALL agreed to 24 hours
OPD says:
I expect this game will turn into more of a pbem then....
Paddy says:
not from Horde perspective
Paddy says:
we are a team
OPD says:
maybe you'll turn into a civ4 multi player team
Paddy says:
yes we will be also
OPD says:
cool
Paddy says:
we prepared for that when we formed for this game
Paddy says:
this game was to allow us to form - train - try out various roles within the team etc
Paddy says:
Boot Camp
OPD says:
ah.... that's a really good idea
OPD says:

Paddy says:
thank you for this chat

Hello,
There is concern on the 24 hour rule being often ignored. A simple idea to stop the game bogging down. In principle it is:
Play the save within 24 hours of receiving it.
Or post in the "save game thread" the reason for the delay and when save will be played.
Just ignoring everyone is not acceptable.
All teams agreed to this.
I have just had a chat with OPD on this matter.
He has reservations on playing / skipping the save at the 24 hour mark. He feels too many times we have all gone past the 24 hour mark. Thus why he decided on 48 hours. As to all teams going past the 24 hour mark, well nearly every time each team has clearly posted in the save game thread. We are all playing to win, a great deal of grace has been shown to all teams, especially when a simple post takes little to no effort. It is no use having this simple process ignored time and again. Especially when there are active members of offending teams seen posting, and even playing in other games, within the Apolyton.
I personally would not like to be skipped, and I am sure all of you feel that way. Yet we have some clear guidelines in this game. Guidelines to assist in keeping this game from bogging down.
My thought is that we need to get a new thread started on this matter. Some where that we can all place our views, calmly and clearly. All teams have agreed to the 24 hour rule. And the admins need to know that we all want this stuck to, or that we all agree on a new process etc. http://apolyton.net/forums/showthre...threadid=137359
A simple post in the save game thread would help matters for all other game members. This is not a pbem with 6 players. There are over 30 people involved in this game on a very regular basis. Adding in there are team member lurkers, and even lurkers on the public threads. If the turn player is too busy to post a reason for the delay and when the save will be played, then that team has a responsibility to all other game members, in having someone else post such information.
Anyway, we also need to start looking for a temporary replacement admin, or motivating another of our current admins. OPD is off for a holiday soon, and may extend that into a long vacation. FYI.
Cheers
Paddy

After some discussion within the Horde, we would like to state the following:
The Blood Oath Horde, we have 16 members, which makes us at this time the largest team in this game. Our members are scattered across the globe covering a great many time zones. We recieve the save at various hours of the day, and have a very good turn rate. At one stage stats were kept on this matter, and we stood a very quick rate at that time.
Babylon has nearly as many members.
We know Lost Boys have many members listed, yet these are false numbers due to the double membership some players now have ( not sure the the Horde have yet agreed with that idea )
We the Horde feel that this issue needs to be dealt with, We feel that you, E_T, need to realize that your team is not that only ones affected by his delays.
The Horde would like you to consider that if you can't play, then abandon your cities and let the people that want to play this game move on.
Boring us to death with such a slow turn rate will not do.
We truely wonder how many of those players that "Can't bear to look at the save" would scream and yell if the cities were abandoned.
E_T you make big statements in these threads, you should be careful.
