"Profession": I work in a hospital I.S. department on the night shift, which means that I cover the bases for the 25 people who work here during the day. What this really means is that I get to surf the net and read a lot for a decent wage.

Profession : Air Traffic Control (Station) - Pilot Weather Briefer

Talents: Daddy, reading toddler stories out loud, roughnecking w/toddler (and wife periodically ), history, collecting and reading esoteric and largely forgotten SF&F, great FRP referee (not nearly as good a player, second guessing other referees is not popular), photography, proofreading doctoral work and some writing, kendo, wrestling, judo, cooking, gardening, data-base programming (horribly rusty on that one). And general tinkering and purchasing on sale computer hardware. Oh, and taking lots of irritating medications on a rigid schedule.

I thought the same, but I don't like to discourage them when they're trying so hard. With a bit of dedication and study, they might just get close to me one day.

Laz westerners just can't swear. You should visit the Balkans and study the fine art of swearing. It is a totaly different level.

Maybe I should start a thread about swearing. It is an interesting subject. I think that when you swear in a language that is not native for you it just doesn't feel that strong/offensive.

I think you could swear bad in most languages if you wanted, but westerners are more down-to-the-point, while easterners like to elaborate a little. Or it could be that my impression (based on American movies mostly) is wrong.

A casual swear in the Balkans could include (but not be limited to): mother, horses, the nails Jesus Christ was crucified with, something dead (the mother for example), various bodily fluids and, of course, some perverse sexual action.

(P.S. Croatia culturally is not in the Balkans)
