Jury duty is an interesting change of pace. By virtue of being the capital and having lots of street crime, in DC we serve one day/one case as a petit juror every two years and less periodically as grand jurors.

It's no big hassle and gives you a glimpse into how the law works and trials are held in real life. I'm positive toward jury duty and I've probably served more than all you lot.

Jury duty is a a very strong manifestation of power to the people, something I'd think you would approve of and gladly take part in as a part of being a citizen of the United States of America. Judging from your attitude thus far, though, that seems not to be the case.

but if I may generalize, I am quite confident that in 100 years time, the power of science and reason will be stronger and the power of religion will be weaker

but alas, I don't care... and even if I weren't depressed, I still wouldn't care. Because once I'm dead... I'm gone. It doesn't matter whose values are stronger or more popular.
