So, it will be a time/quality race for a SMACX-cIV mod between Firaxis and Apolyton ?

someone in the civ forums proposed it. cant take credit...but it is the next big thing that has to be there for me.im sick of playing these games with 2 settlers and a huge empty landmass. basicly add a EUII spin to the game...

[OT]Why does everybody link nano technology with robots?? Nano technology is a very broad name. It covers everything that is man-made on nanometer scale. This ranges from very small logic building blocks to medicine. Maybe there has been a movie or serie that abused the name to refer to small robots or something? I really don't get it.[/OT]
Aside from that, an empty landmass is realistic. I can't imagine a very small group to survive on planet (let alone how they get there alive). As for the gameplay element, Firaxis tried to counter this with the fungus, mindworms, etc... in SMAC and the barbarians in Civ.

edit;in regards to the nano question
because people, unlike robots, are made up of impossibly complex systems. a robot could never could close to being like a human, but a anndriod, that mimics a humans build in every way, including the incredible small sizes of indivudual parts. nano means small,i think,so nano-tech just fits. and then it gets extended to andriods in the same way
and androids in sci fi are very similar to humans or having pervoiusly been humans, but upgraded.at least in the sci fi i see
heres the guy from my avatar for example

SMAC human-upgrade timetable:
1.Soc Psych (increased knowledge on psychology)
2.BioGenetics (allows 'genetical' selection)
3.SOFTHB (furthermore, I guess the fundamentalism it allows is WAY above the one we have had thus far, trance as well - something of an enchanced hypnosis)
4.Cent Emp (allows empath skills)
5.Neural Amplifier (mechanical upgrade of senses)
6.BioEngineering (some fiddling with cells)
7.MMI (mechanical upgrade allowing direct brain-digital system link)
8.BioMachinery (first cellar level links between human and machine)
9.Homo Superior (human cells transformed into amalgam of nanotechnology - hence the 'nanohospital' and biology, also enchanced one)
...
So, 'Cyborg' is something starting in L5 of my timeline and ending at L8 where transition in a "NanoHuman" begins.
Nanohuman would then be L8 - ... (matter editation and some other things would provide further upgrades).
On the "..." levels:
Imagine a human able of:
1.being 100 times as tough as steel or flexible as water - MatterEditation on cellar level (nano + matter Edit), but that would be possible only after matter editation on laboratory level, thus not on L10 as matter editation is techwise, but probably on L11 or so.
2.lifting himself into space - Antigravity on cellar level (also likely to come some time after lab antigravity)
3.Breathing in space, erm sorry, he even't won't need to breed, because he's feeding from Quantum Power plants sized as small as mitochondrius in our cells.
etcetc
