I really don't understand the knock on Rookie QBs. Last year, how many rookie QBs started games? 3? Ben Rothlesburger Eli Manning and Craig Krenzel I think. We all know what big Ben did. Manning played for a team that had a horrible everything except RB. He struggled. And Krenzel went 3-2 WHILE PLAYING FOR THE BEARS!!!

You two are both officially nuts. Glad to know I'm playing you in Fantasy Football.

How 'bout we make this interesting? If you are right and the Bears win 4 games or less, each of you will get to put a line in my quote until the begining of the 2006 NFL season. If they win 5 or more, I get to do the same to you.

So you are saying they'll finish 5-11?

I'll say that they could, if things fall right (and have some luck), finish 6-10, but anything above that and you are smoking something.

Got spare money?

Detroit is the bottem of the NFC North barrel. 2 wins
Green Bay has the problems listed earlier. 1 win, 1 loss
Minnisota is one of the most overrated teams in the NFL. 1 win, 1 loss

at Was Bears unknown off vs a good def. Was bad off vs great Def. 1 win.
vs Cin Everything in Cin is bad to average. 1 win.
at Cle Almost the worst of the NFL. 1 win.
vs Bal Same as Was except the Ravens D is great. Probable loss. 1 loss.
at NO NO is going to be abysmal this year playing 16 away games. 1 win.
vs SF The absolute bottom in the NFL. 1 win.
vs Car No arguments here. 1 loss.
at TB Another like Was. Possible win, but for argument, loss. 1 loss.
at Pit 1 loss.
vs Atl 1 loss.

Thats my breakdown. Look at their season at tell me they go only 4-12 with a straight face. Its not going to happen. You wanna make the bet or are you backing out of your statement?

The Bears should beat SF. Other than that I wouldn't count on them winning any other games.

The Raiders looked good at times last night, but they'll have to protect the QB more.

NE was **** hot last night. They did a pretty good job against Moss. A lot of balls were thrown to him that were incomplete.

The Rams will destroy SF on Sunday. Jackson will have a huge game. Martz will run more this year starting week 1. Also, Kurtis will have a big year. The Rams have more weapons than they need this year. We'll just have to see about the D. If the D improves this year, watch out.

Tired of ads?

The Bears are the most underrated team in the NFL. Even by Chicago media!!!

The Chicago Tribune picked Washington to beat them 26-13.

Okay... let's just ignore that Washington only beat the Bears 13-10 last year. And that was a Bears team with 5 starters out on defense... the offensive line decimated, Quinn as the QB and David Terrell at Wide Receiver at the top of the depth chart.

The Bears' leading receiver had 22 yards.

And Washington managed to defeat them only 13-10.

This year, the Bears are healthy on defense, have Mushin Muhammed at WR (a target for Orton), and an above average offensive line to protect Orton.

I'm not guaranteeing a Bears victory, but it will be a close game.

And to say the Bears are going to do anything worse than last year 5-11, well, whoever says that doesn't know jackshit about football. Last year they had tons of injury problems, a tougher schedule, less talent, and a horrible offensive coordinator... yet they went 5-11!!!! and 4 of their losses were by 6 points or less.

Now explain to me how they will do worse than last year... PLEASE... because I simply don't understand any of your guys's reasoning.

You have to be realistic. The Bears looked bad last year even when their defense was fairly healthy. Mushin Muhammed isn't good enough to make a big difference. It's just as likely that they will be even worse this year as it is that they might be a little better.

The Rams sucked in the 90s. I didn't go around every year screaming about how they were going to be good every year. Finally they turned it around, and then I could say something.

Well, then why can't anyone here address the points I made about the Bears.

I think I'm being very realistic. Optimistic, yes... but it's possible to be optimistic AND realistic.

And it's funny you are telling me to be realistic when you say the Bears are going to be 1-15.

Detroit has more talent than the Bears.

quote:

I said they could concievably go 6-10. But you'll say they'll go 8-8. Why don't we have it between 4-12 and 8-8 (ie, 6-10)? That's only fair. If 5 is the line, Detroit gets lucky in only one game, you win, but they can be 3 games worse than you said and only 1 game better than I said.

Detroit - 1 wins & 1 loss
Green Bay - 2 losses
Minnesota (if you really think this team is overrated than you really know NOTHING about football) - 2 losses [BIG losses]

at Was Bears - toss up
vs Cin - 1 loss (your knowledge of Cincy is pathetic)
at Cle - toss up
vs Bal - 1 loss
at NO - 1 loss (NO has Brooks and Deuce, who do the Bears have?)
vs SF - 1 win
vs Car - 1 loss
at TB - 1 loss
at Pit 1 loss
vs Atl 1 loss

So totalled, 4-12 with all the toss ups added in. The ways to get to 6-10 could be one lucky win at home against GB and a lucky win against another team on the schedule.

Btw, Sava, Washington is better than it was at the beginning of last year. Their running game was working ok at the end of the year and Ramsey should be more comfortable. Santana Moss seems to fit in more to the 'Skins offense than Coles, and Washington's D is better than yours. It's a toss up because who knows if Ramsey gets any better, but with a Portis running better, he should.

I think the bears will win more than 1 game in our division. It could be as many as 3. Detroit does suck and Green Bay is one injury away from really sucking.
Minnesota doesn't suck but that doesn't mean the bears can't beat them. If I remember correctly the Bears beat them last year.

7-8, 8-8 sounds about right...

5-11, 6-10 if there are injuries and things go downhill...

9-7, 10-6 if everyone stays healthy and we get lucky!

but talk of 4-12 and 3-13 is pure stupidity...

Oh, and the 49ers and Browns are almost certainly worse than the Bears in my book. The Bears have a fairly good chance of being 3rd in the division, because I think at least one of Detroit and Green Bay won't hold it together.

Sure. I'll take that.

5 or less wins for the Bears and you get to put a line in my sig.
6 or more and I get to put a line in your sig.

Lines in sigs stay until opening day of the 2006 NFL season.

My only question with this bet is is this line in the sig static or do we get to change the line as we see fit (up to poly rules ) for the duration of the bet? I'd be happy either way (as I'm going to win, I'd prefer to be able to change it).

Edited for clarity.

Let's predict the final standings for our teams then...

For the Bengals I'm expecting an improvement on last year with our offence potentially catching fire this year...

10-6
