The nurses have experienced what it's like to not make any money, and if you think they are just the only group of people, well that's wrong, this includes most groups of different fields.
Now, they are unifying the salaries and benefits of regions near the capital, Helsinki, so that no one is able to go to the hospital next to them to get better pay. This translates into, everyone is making crap these days.
That sounds very 'free' to me. Hey these guys are making more than you? DAMN! Quickly, lower their salaries!
IN here, the lowest bidder wins and everyone goes to that level. It's not the competition, it's the cartels.
The one nurse was kind of upset, being 50, at the top of her career, with 1500 euro monthly salary, with all benefits included, extra education didn't raise her salary to new levels at all, and she lives in Helsinki, one of the most expensive areas in Europe (and world).
So, now they can't move to other places that pays 'higher' salaries, since they unified all the benefits and all that jazz This includes thousands of workers.
Then she cried something about free market. NOT HERE, *****! DIE.
lol
You get the idea of living off of 1500 euro salary, doing hard work, being educated to do it, and nothing ever goes to benefit these people, everyone is looking to **** them over more and more. And this is most people, not some unfortunate people, this is what it's like for most, then we take half in taxes away, and green party hippies want to take even more in taxes to.. pay the salaries of officials and other paper pushers who just fax to each other paper.
It's getting so funny, I'm not even upset, nothing would surprise me here anymore. The fat ****s deciding these things should be hung in the middle of hte market square.
OHH but the health care is free! NO WONDER! They don't get paid! Want to go under knife and get treated by these folks say now, or say after 10 years when they are truly tired and pissed off? I wouldn't want that. And that's why the public health care SUCKS!
Lesson to be learned. However, as usual, cue in for the socialist nutjobs to defend this policy, to defend this all. Every socialist on these boards are more likely RICH compared to these nurses anyway. So... instead of always crying move out, you should move in. Your contribution is needed in here.

yeah. They pay normal taxes.. I couldn't say from not checking out how much it would be from 1500E, but it is over 20% for sures. That's the direct income tax though, there's lots of other taxes too.
Combine that with the high living costs, you can afford your rent, if you live in small flat, and that's it. You have to be married or something to make it out to the food table like normal people. Nurses aren't however the only group, that must be pointed out. There are loads of others who have the same situation. And the ones who have it good, make like 2000E a month, rarely 3000. For 3000, you have to be some sort of real specialist, I mean most of the time even software developers won't make this much, unless they are in cool company that pays their employees. But it's like China. Everyone gets crap so why should you be the cool guy and double up for no reason at all.
AZ, it's not after taxes that would be awesome salary in here after taxes. Of course it's not after taxes But it's after all benefits though

Do these nurses have the equivalent of a 4-year college degree?
In the US, there are Registered Nurses who have 4-year degrees. They are paid well. $4,750 median per month plus benefits. Licensed Practical Nurses have 2-year degrees and get paid about $3,000 per month. AFAIK, those without any special nursing education aren't paid that well. More like $2,250 plus benefits.
