What about more advanced units, non-expiring Oracle, & expiring Pyramids? Also, I think happy wonders should require 100 more shields, since everyone goes for them first (possible exception for Hanging Gardens, since you have to go out of the usual tech path to get it in the first, that's probably 'punishment' enough).

Finally, I think ships & planes should have their movement rates increased, and carriers should have a much higher defence rating (since it represents a carrier with escort ships).

By making these wonders end sooner, it means that their benefit isn't over exagerated.....

Since Kent couldn't play the Indians have been removed (I can see the Asian land rush now.. Mongolia, Israel and China...) and we have put an AI in the Americas starting with one city in North America, Central America and in South America so they can fill the entire landmass. So we will have that to deal with.

I started each civ with two settlers. So we can get into politics quickly.

So far I am removing SDI altogether, I don't think it is realistic, it never fails to destroy a nuclear attack and I don't think that is a realistic thing to have in the game. Why have a PRETEND invention? I might as well put in space fighters and giant robots if we are gonna have SDI in the game.

And if everyone is worried about people abusing Nuclear missiles, let's take out Howitzers as well people tend to abuse them also.

Anyone with any skill will be able to play around the nuclear problem, you want to know who has nukes? Use spies, you want to defend against nukes, make sure you set your nation up properly to do so. Have a team of Engineers ready to clean up, I don't see why there is such a fear of the nuclear weapon. Its just a game.

Alright, I am considering upping the cost of some wonders, and changing the expiration, I want a general consensus here. So everyone list the wonders they want to cost more and how much more, and list the expiration of other wonders. Thanks.

And if someone could point me in the direction of a good Recon Plane graphic, I'd be very pleased.

Shouldn't we have a vote on the SDI issue? I mean, sending a ship to Alpha Centauri is even less realistic than this.

I think we should reduce the power of howitzers (by reducing FP from 2 to 1, say), rather than eliminating them altogether.

I agree with War4ever's suggestions re wonders.

I also think Mr. Dimbleby has a point with making an enlarged map of the Old World (would have to be flat - I don't have a problem w/ that).

I'm rather opposed to the idea of having an AI civ.

As for a Recon Plane, the Hi-Res modpack has a Zeppelin unit that serves for reconnaissance. We're also using it in the New Millennium game.

If the Indians have dropped out, I'd rather have them than the Chinese. I don't want to be right next to War4ever. I think the Israelis might want to switch to Russia instead, considering the Malis and the Indians will otherwise hem them in. But that's up to the Israelis.

Alright, I am going to list the players and what their tribes will be so we can get everything sorted out, this may be wrong and probably is incorrect, which is why I am lineating it so we can get some sort of finalization here, I have already started working on the mod so I am a little agitated that people keep switching up their starting positions, so let me get this PERFECTLY CLEAR:

Capo - Adriatic League
Chris - Mali
Drake - Zulu
Dimbleby - Israelies
Curumbor - Chinese
War4Ever - Mongolians
AI - Native Americans

Okay, now, Curumbor has said that he would like to change his tribe because he is "too close" to War4 (Which is odd becuase he hasn't seen the map yet... weird), and would like to move his tribe. Prometheus has said he would like to play as the Americans.

I am thinking, we want at least two people in the Americas, so its not boring for anyone on that side of the drink. Further, with Curumobr leaving Asia, this puts War4 in a monopoly over all of Asia, as his only Asian counterparts are, psuedo-asian at best: Israel.

This creates a lot of misgivings, what I am going to try and do now is ask for a finalized list of people and what nations they intend on playing as. I would not feel this game appropriate if only one nation is in the Americas, so for those purposes we should at least have two. Further, War4's position would be ultra-stupid in my mind based on the HUGE open space, and I think we want relative parity here rather than worries of distance.

Therefore, what I am really asking is for everyone to put up their FINAL decision, so I can start working on the mod, and if the decisions are odd... (Iraq and Israel for example) then we can discuss that situation. In case anyone has no idea what the Adriatic League will be (as far as starting locations) its around where modern Venice is.

Alright peace guys, and if I don't talk to you today have a kick ass weekend, its so nice outside right now...

OH YEAH: When do we want to start this game? This comming Thursday at 8:00pm?

Well, you said the civs would be placed in their historic spots, and Mongolia and China are right next to each other.

I think maybe you should make a map with seven starting locations equal in strength, let us all see the map and agree to it, and then randomly allocate who gets what.

I for one am not really interested in in others in North/South America for the simple reason that there is alot of land to colonize their.....

However if this is the case then we need two settlements in that large continent(s) So my vote is two or none....

Now that Deity wishes to play as well..... this may work out better for us.... one in North one in South..... although the land in the south sucks.... alot a work for settlers LOL

If we add Prometheus and play him as the Americans we would have to add another tribe to the Americas for so many reasons, but I don't want to get into specifics right now. I would suggest we add it either in Mexico, Venezuela or Argentina. The current map has the AI in Mexico, myself on the top of the Adriatic, the Mongols near Baikal, the Chinese in their regular spot, the Israelies in Israel, the Mali in ancient Timbuktu and the Zulu in Zimbabwe. I don't think how close we are to eachother should be too much of an issue, nobody is THAT close to complain about it, if anything me and Israel are too close.

But the issue here is whether we have Prometheus play as the Americans. I think if we did that, we'd have to put another tribe over there, but I don't think that tribe should be from Asia, look what would happen! It would be either Mongolia or China alone with all of Asia at its disposal.

So we either move Dimbleby (the reason I say this is becuase there is a "situation" in Africa that I want to keep) to the Americas, or keep Prometheus over here.

OR, no offense to Prometheus, we could just tell him no and keep the AI as the Native Americans. Thoughts?

OK, the Mongols and Chinese are far enough apart that I would feel OK playing the Chinese. However, I'd also like to see the starting terrain. Can you put the map up for download somewhere?

I say we put Prometheus in the Old World (maybe as Indians or Russians or Vikings), abolish the AI, and leave the Americas for colonization. This is what we did in Diplomacy V, and it worked well.

No offence taken, I would be happy to play wherever you would think that I would best attribute to the “balance of power” or if you decide not to let me play that is fine too.

I agree with Curumbor Elendil that I would have to either be the Russians Indians or Vikings but each have their distinctive advantages and disadvantages so it does not really matter to me. I will let you guys decide where I would be most beneficial to game play.

Alright we have an issue now, apparently I had told Deity that he/she can play in this game. Sun Tzu was also supposed to be in this game as we ended a game with him in order to play and I had told him he would be in this game.

There are nine people who are "down" for this game's Roster, but only seven spots we can fill. I'm not quite sure what we can do about this. On one hand I don't think its fair to the people that have been on this thread saying "Yeah, do this, no don't do that, I can't wait to play blah blah blah" for us/me to in essence kick them out.

But on the other hand, I don't think its fair to people who have been assured a spot in the game to be thrown out simply because I didn't tell them to make posts instead of just ICQ/Mail me. So we have a situation on our hands.

(offhand comment real quick; Damn, thanks for letting me know that Thursday was not Vday, I am a true idiot, can you imagine how stupid I would have looked? She woulda been like "You forgot you *******!" and like, god I don't even want to think about it....)

So, what are YOUR suggestions, I mean should we find out who has the biggest desire to play? What can we possibly do in a situation like this?

Committments per se were not made, but there was a general understanding in those circumstances, which is why its tough to just arbitrarily say "You're out, you're in."

I am not sure what exactly we are going to do in this situation. I think what we should do right now is get everyone to post what tribe they want to be, I put the map up, that way you can see where you want to start and pick a tribe. But, even before then we should decide whether or not we want North America to be empty for colonization?

Deity has told me that he/she will play as the Australians, I am very sure I am playing as the Adriatic League (Venice).

So that's two confirmed spots, I hope ALL NINE of you would post what tribe you want to be, because we haven't decided on the final seven yet. Thank you.

Hey, I'll offer again to step down in favor of others. This looks like a great game, but I'm just not sure if I can make another weekly commitment like that; I'm thinking about setting up an "all-night game" - we had one of those a while back. Play from dusk till dawn, and hopefully the game will be over by then. If we didn't have enough players, I would keep playing this game since I committed to it, but since there are too many, I trust I won't be doing any harm by backing out.

Alright, I finished the mod last night, which means that I have finally made the decision.

Before I tell you guys what I decided to go with, I just want everyone to understand that I had a real hard time making the decision, and it only came after long discussions with the players, as well as an overview of who everyone was and what situation they were in.

I am not going to say who I "dropped" but I am going to list those that are included in the final cut:

War - Mongolia
Sun - Chinese
Dimble - Israel
Chris - Mali
Drake - Zulu
Deity - Australia

To those who were left off, I am sorry but it was a tough decision to make, and a lot of factors were considered, it could have went either way and I hope nobody is pissed off about this list.

Okay well, now that this is all reluctantly cleared up, we have a few more issues to resolve before I finish the mod. When should certain wonders expire? How many more shields should be added? Etc...
