Visual contact has been made with a Pirates Gunship off our southern coast. And still no word has been received from our Pact Sister Illiria, to our private hail.

OK, I am at a loss. I admit I'm new at MP. Can someone explain what just happened? By offering a truce to Prime Function Qualicide and its acceptance did Alpha Prime revert to its previous owner (not likely) or was I just probed? Also, as I moved a unit into a square that originally contained a forest, that forest disappeared. Was this forest bombarded by Pirate Gunships?

Sorry, it's just a bit odd (and mildly unnerving). I understand in MP games that there is less in the way of battle reports, and I guess no way of knowing probe actions. I've just never experienced it...yet.

If so, then you really are left in the dark a bit in MP—which is fine but it takes a bit of getting used to.

Hmmm...this could be a short (sort of) game.

Yep. The Hive is definitely being bombarded by TWO Pirate gunships. I guess the good 'ol Govenor isn't aware of the truce between the Hive and the Consciouness. This hostile 'police' action violates the U.N. Charter, and could become a serious atrocity!

In the 'misunderstanding between the Consciouness and the Hive there was no loss of life or destruction of property. We are a peaceful people. This tyranical aggression must be stopped!

The Hive calls for the removal of Govenor Flomper from Office!

Qualicide: Thanks for the update! This will definitely change the way I'm used to playing. I guess you can get lazy in SP games.

Governor Flomper has yet to reply to any of our transmissions requesting a truce. His 'Pirates' continue to lurk off of our shores, while the good Governor pays lip service to peace.

Once again, the Hive calls for the removal of Governor Flomper for office. There are now, it appears, three other likely candidates for the position (and no the Hive is not one of them).

Governor Flomper, these hostilities must cease, and the right to expansion be allowed to continue.

Qualicide: lol...I was in a hurry, and this bloody apple non-extended keyboard sucks. If I'd only waited two more months to buy my G4 I could have got the new extended keyboard. C'est la vie!

KillJoy, I don't respond well to threats. Let me remind you that the cause of the breakdown in our diplomatic status was YOUR invasion of an allied faction's city. In the face of such hostility, troop movements were certainly warranted.

You mentioned before that there were two gunships off your coast, now you insist that the one remaining ship be removed. Anyone reading between the lines of your missive would come to the conclusion that I have already begun the removal of troops, and was merely doing so in measured steps.

You have shown yourself to be untrustworthy in upholding a truce when there are no opposing troops to enforce it. In light of this I would be very foolish to trust you to act responsibly when unobserved. Especially in light of the remarks about me that you have made in this forum.

What is it that you are planning to do that you cannot allow the world at large to see, Chairman?

Flomper: Well, the Hive certainly was put in their place!! I agree the 'wounded bird' stance doesn't really hold much water (no pun intended) when this whole situation was intiated by myself. But it was worth a try! :-)

What is everyone’s view on "Stockpiling" after a facility/unit has been built. I had no idea this was an issue until I saw the thread currently being discussed over in AC Strategy/Help/General.

I think the thread is labelled "What every SMAC Player should know."

Is this an issue with anyone in this game?

Governor Flomper, as we had yet to receive any official aggreement for truce from the governing body of the Nautilus Pirates (or that in fact one would be forthcoming), Hive patrols dealt with a Nautilus Probe team — found within Hive territory — accordingly.

As Chairman of the Hive, I apologize for this unfortunate action and send my condolences to the family of the Nautlius operative. We will continue to strive for a peaceful resolution to the current situation.
