I just discovered a very nice open-source Java tradewars client that even has graphical mapping. It's called "Kokua" and you can find it at http://www.twdata.org/kokua/. This is an excellent client for beginners: it looks great and is easy to use.
Another great tradewars program, called TWX Proxy, is not a client but acts as a proxy server between your client and the tradewars server, and this opens up a whole range of new functionality. It's particularly good for corporations, since it allows for a much greater degree of in-game co-operation and communication. The basic proxy and script pack 1 is free, and an additional script pack containing some very powerful tools is priced at $30 US. Visit the TWX Proxy homepage for more information.
