Perhaps the Snake charmer for the egyptians?
Poisonous snakes could kill enemy special leaders/generals etc
bit like a spy.
That seems more egyptian to me at least.. or something with camels
Mongols should have horsearchers,
English - Fast Frigate Gunboats
Americans - Stealth Bombers / Guerrilia Militia?(as in the war of independance v us brits, otherwise known as cheating by the yanks ) or maybe Merrimack Ironclad ships (but they tended to sink like triremes in rough water)
Japanese - knee Mortar troops (used a lot in ww2)

Some of these firaxis has already given their choice, that we know of for now.

I hope we can still bribe these special units.
How will this special unit system affect strategys?

Maybe you can stop them getting the special resource needed to construct their special unit, for an effective 'defence'

speaking of which , with siege /boundary defence tactics i hope the new border system stop units just near your boundary getting unhapiness.

They are, but its not a ninja, its the Samurai, used by the Chinese, Japs aren't in the game afaik.

The Africans seem to have some sort of Zulu warrior, which I personaly love the look of, haha

I'm hoping there willbe more than one special unit for each civ, to change during the times.

The English I beleive would have a special ship of some sort, but also the longbowmen, surely?

umm.. oh I remember something.. each civ has benefits as a whole, like the English have more benefits with ships than any other Civ, what do you think the other Civs have?

chinese special unit should be a early bombardment unit. gunpower was invented in China, and first used on combat during the 12th century.

PS: I just found out on International Channel, that toothbrush was first invented in China in 1498. What a great invention !!!

Regular unit will be a chariot, Egyptian special one might be called Hittites, although that's kind of a slap in the face to the Egyptians.

English special unit is the ****er unit.

They're both Japanese (Saying Japs isn't very PC ) Ninjas were essentially as we imagine them: sneaky-type guys. And Samurais were the elite feudal warrior class. If the Japanese are included I imagine these'll be their special units.

To remain on topic:
I'm not too familiar with Egyptians or chariots, but it sounds like a good idea, but it doesn't sound like we'll be having to many special units in the middle of the game, all weighted toward the beginning or end. hmm.

I would have to agree. People are going to want/have to play with a certain civ if the unique civs are really so important to the game that they cannot be turned off.

If they can't be turned off then the only fair thing would be to allow more than one player to be the same civ. That does not seem very likely or plausible.

I understand that about the chinese and samurai's, its just that I'm not sure the Japs are in the game? I guess they would be though, they are a major player.

I just remember seeing the Samurai in a screenshot, so I just put the two things I know together.
