Flame,
If you start a new game with the Mars Mod and then from within that game load the PBEM game, what errors exactly do you get? Could you post them here (if there are many and they are very similar, one will do, but if there are different ones please post them all)? Also, after the messages, does the game freeze, crash back to your desktop/prompt/whatever or can you continue playing?

Also, is this with DebugSlic in userprofile.txt (or whatever the Mac equivilant is) set to Yes or No? Could you test both, it would be interesting to see what the difference is...

You shouldn't need to have another copy of CTP (although that is one way of arranging things...). You can use the built-in scenario system with only minor problems.

have downloded the files and put them int the scinerios directory but it still dosent come up in the scineros section of the game. what could I have done wrong Im not to litteret and may have goten confussed

You may use the Modpicker utility instead.

Sorry I've been out of touch for a while...

Can you look and tell me exactly which directory Mars.txt is in. That should tell me whether it's unzipped in the right place.

It works perfectly , I think. I've not properly tested it yet, but I've played a few turns with hotseat play.

btw, are the great libraries descriptions supposed to be empty? I know the history descriptions are supposed to be, but how about the game descriptions? How do I find out the values for units, improvements, governments, etc. without having to research and build them first?

I hope I didn't do something wrong.


Ohh, and if anyone wants to PBEM that would be great. I can't really test it without an opponent now can I?

If the GL descriptions are not there it probably means that you didn't copy the GL files across from the scenartio directory to the ctp_data one. The batch file should do this for you and if you want to do it manually then the instructions are in the readme.

I'm back at uni now, but my room connection is not set up. When it is (hopefully in the next couple of days) I will be eager to play internet and/or PBEM with one and all. I'll post again when that occurs.

Congrats on reading the whole thread... I really should start a new one and distill the useful info.

I ran the install.bat before and I just did it again. I think it doesn't work. I'll do it manually. If you don't hear from me than it worked.

I've just discovered (when installing the thing myself on my new PC) that the batch file will not run under Windows XP! Curse MS and their lack of backwards-compatibility . It probably won't work in 2K either, but I can't check that. What version are you running?

XP, that explains it, might there be other things that aren't working besides the gl? I've got the gl up and running now, but it looks to me the batch file did everything else OK. Or am I overlooking something?

Do I need to do the complete manual installation?

It does the const.txt bit OK, but it won't do the UI modification (not that that's crucial, but it is nice).

The problem is that XP has no choice function, so it assumes you said 'no' to everything...

Sorry about that. I should start a PBEM game later today when I can get my CTP CD back from my friend..

Wow, sounds absolutely fantastic. From reading the thread a lot more has gone into this scenario than I had previously anticipated. I'm going to sit down with the read me I printed out because I had the same problems as one of the last fellows with the library... I'll be back to report my progress... Can't wait to get up and playing, and once I do we should get everyone who's been testing so far to hack away at each other in one big ruckus PBEM game - that is if you haven't been already... As I once heard at a football match I went to when visiting England: "C'mon then if you think you're 'ard enough!!!"
