New forum? Suffering from ads?

this thread in civ3 general especially:

http://apolyton.net/forums/showthre...&threadid=25030

got my attention. Would combining all the mac forums into one for a period of time be a bad idea? If you gathered all the mac apolytoners into one space, you're looking at a potentially more active forum than you're seeing now. The growth factor might be helped as well - new apple users will have an easy place to post problems, etc.

A Mac Civvers forum wouldn't be far fetched, would it? If it doesn't work out you could always revert to the original setup.

Whatcha think?

Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

The only problem is that it would go against the current ACS format of dividing Forums into game specific groupings and then into subsets such as General, Strategy, Mac, etc. I think that people visit ACS Forums either for specific games or to post rants on the OT Forum, neither lends itself to a Mac-only general forum. That function is filled by forums such as the MacAddict Forums (which is very good BTW!).

Just my opinion.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

If you support it (which I don't think you do ), IMO it'd be an easy switch for the better. A specific mac forum would break some format rules and might go against current posting patterns, but I think with enough work it might go well.

There are a reasonable number of mac posters who would inhabit the forum. Besides them, new users could always happen by, and PC people could pay a visit or two to play a tourament or have a fact based pc/mac war. It could be a nice civ variation on MacAddict - just think!

Support Apolyton

By all means, do post the suggestion with your reasons on the Apolyton/Community Forum, and don't let me discourage you! MarkG and DanQ are always open to suggestions! Certainly combining all Mac Forums into one with two Mods would certain pool a larger number of posters together!

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Will do. I hope you want this, though - after all, these are your forums I'm proposing changes to, and they are pretty radical. In either case, it's only a suggestion, and if it's a bad move you can always switch it back.

thanks for the support.
