Todays question is really easy !
I found the answer within 20 seconds. Got 30 points

but because of last weeks 20 point lose I dropped out of the top 20

I got an idea, what if I can get a website in the top of google.com..... and put all kind off wrong answers overthere.....
I'm sure everybody in the top 100 would drop dramaticly.

that would be a coul idea, wouldn't it.... *dreaming*

(yeah yeah, get a life get a life)

Yes, it was an easy question. As I'm a mathematician I didn't look it up. I was 99% sure, and lucky me I was right.
And about yesterday's question: austere = spartansk (adjective from Sparta)
When I get the answer directly from the dictionary it is really easy.

Put an end to popups!

Love the trivia idea but having been on holiday for a fortnight at the start of the competition it barely seems worthwhile starting. If only you got given one unanswered previous question each day I might eventually catch up. Sigh.

Todays was very easy, basically asking which empire Cyrus the Great ruled.

Although I am dismayed that some of you have performed web searches to try and find the answers, I do hope that no award is given in this because it would just go to obvious cheats; I just tried to answer the questions to the best of my knowledge and I am now on 220...

c'mon Provost,

we're in the 'information- era' of this earth !
These days it's not important anymore how much you know, but how fast you can find the knowledge !

Overhere in The Netherlands some universities already give exams in wich the students are allowed to use the internet to search for the answers.

WHY ?
Because there's so much BS online,
it's more important that students see the difference between a BS site and a quality site.

I missed 3 questions, at least 2 out of 3 were wrong because I got wrong info from a website.

But it's fine to me if you start to cheat away from now
Little change you'll beat me

Got spare money?

If you read around the subject to find the answer then it is not cheating, Firaxis are providing a service by educating its fans It's just frustrating when the question turns out to have a dubious answer, like the phalanx one. Europa Universalis did wonders for my European history knowledge 1492-1792

Well I would say civ rocketed my historical knowledge compared to what it was before. And I am still not too hot now. I use to hate the subject, nor was I much good at it. I remember coming up to selecting my GCSEs my history teacher said 'I don't think Richard will do very well. Unfortunately I expect he will fail all his GCSEs and not achieve much academically' She got that one a little bit wrong though

I actually figured the phalanx one out... At one site they said the formation was 10 by 10, which was the only site i found to give the dimesnsions of a phalanx. Fortunately 100 wasnt a CivTrivia choice. Then i found a site that said they were 8 men accros... no meantion of the numbers back, but i guessed it was a square, so 8 by 8 = 64... Ill admit it was a stab in the dark, though.

I found a very in depth site that gave numbers for all sorts of phalanx (sub-)units of different names from a small one of 16 men up to 512 and beyond. None of them were alleged as the "official" or "standard" size. It seems the depth of the phalanx slowly grew over time from 8 to 12, 16 and even 32 deep formations.

I am wondering what is gonna be the next topic of trivia questions. Perhaps European civs? Sub-Saharan Africa? Or the Americas? Hopefully we will see all civ groupings covered in the topic.

Well I found today's easy as well, I seem to be on a bit of a role. Only one seemed to fit though really from the options, which is good when things are clear
