Wow, those mountains look great! Maybe Firaxis would think about incorpoarating some of your graphics into the first patch?(hint for Firaxis)

I think the graphics of the game look terrific, and I feel that the Firaxis art team did an excellent job directing their efforts towards creating a unified art theme.
That was one of the things that drew me to the game: the focus of the team and reliance upon Peter Brueghel's Tower of Babel (I think) as inspiration for the colors and design. Many people tend to overlook this fact as they demand that everything be realistic to contend with the state-of-the-art FPSes out there, completely overlooking that the team created a rather beautiful artisitic vision.

Cian, speaking as an artist, I totally understand and agree with you. However the idea of emerging a painting into a games graphics doesn't seem possible to me in this type of game. And I've tried to find the similarities between the painting and the civ3 artwork, and I can't see it.
The artwork they have done is fine and good, it's all great work, but it's not civ, civ has it's own style already, and by changing that style, u can kill it's atmosphere.
What you see here with the graphics I've put up, are nothing but tests to see if I can change stuff.
I thought I would just give it to ppl to use, while in the meantime I will do a graphics pack to make the graphics even better.
For example, some of the tree's I am keeping the same, and the red mountains, I am going to keep some of them but change other red mountains. I'm playing it now with the mixture of red and grey mountains. A mixture of autumn coloured tree's and different coloured pine tree's (which u can actually see hehe).
The water being much much brighter is a lot better. Still much more to do yet.

Oh wow, you've done some really great work here! I mean, the grass not matching is real bad but you said that you fixed that, and by the screenshot, you have. It would be nice if you could post a replacement for the two files so that I could just put that in and replace the neon grass ones. The rest you can keep until you're done but now i'm spoiled and dont' want to put back in the red mountains. Please? Again great work!!!

I love the new mountains that have been updated to match the grass, but the "old" file is still there with the bright-green grass!
Can someone please upload the NEW mountain graphics with the grass that matches the grass in-game!?!?!
