I'm not sure where this came from. I am 100% convinced that Deity is beatable, and I don't believe that "we" ever said different. However, I do think that Deity in Civ3 is more difficult than Deity in Civ2, which was our goal in defining Diety.

What do you mean by "win" at Deity?
I'm sure most people, well not most, but good people could atleast pull out a cheap Diplomatic victory or high score victory. I'll try it when i'm through with the one i'm playing

i actually doubt this. Ive found it easiest to be militaristic so far, and have conquered 3 civs so far (out of 7) but now im planning to settle down and explore the other victories

OCC with size one is impossible. The city couldn't produce any science rate to be of any use, You'd have to conquer the world basically with stuff you capture from goodie huts. also any improvements in the city would be lost to maitenance costs after being built. And that's not even accounting for not being able to maintain any form of military at all.
It's just impossible to actually win that way

first off, I'm not a newbie.
And Second and more importantly what you have displayed is proof that someone once had a city that was size one at some point. I also sounds like he made it as a scenario or something. And Also he doesn't make any mention of what difficulty level he did it on. It would of course be possible on Cheiftan by simply stealing most techs.
And most Importantly i was under the assumption OCC stood for One City Conquest. He did not take over the world, he launched a ship.
Actually most important is probably the level issue.
Overall this isn't proof at all, and there's no way to tell if he kept the city at 1 always.

Given the serious game flaws in AI Diplomacy (highly overvaluing worthless cities, MillionDollarBug, etc.) & Combat ("Circling Armada Bug",etc.) the AI isn't up to par & has some serious achellis heels which can be exploited (knowingly or unknowingly). I would be interested in knowing who beat Diety without these flaws after a patch is out.
