As for the roads going through the hills; I simply changed the colour, so the roads going through the hills is Firaxis's doing.
I'm not sure about the jungle, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same case, because Firaxis had little or rather no control on how the roads will look on each terrain.
Thanks everyone for your comments, really appreciated.
Trifna: my thoughts exactly
About changing roads/railroads; it really is not that easy, the amount of roads and railroads there are and the intricate system they use to connect to each other is so large and complicated that it'd take me months and months to do it and it wouldn't change much AT ALL. I'd only be able to change the appearance, but I can't change the way they um.. 'travel'? and connect.
You will notice that a lot of the land has not been raised, it's quite a job in itself, I'd like to make it look really good and realistic, you'll notice one peninsular is raised and has a nice shadow and waves around it, I want to make the rest like that too, but the amount of work is quite big, there are like 100 diamonds and 6 PCX files, that's 600 diamonds I'd have to go through! It's time consuming and when I came to that realization, I decided to just let the modpack out.
When the editor is released and it has everything we all want, then I will get back to doing new graphics, hopefully they will allow new city improvements, new resources, new units, unlimited terrain, etc. Then we can make Civ3 what we want it to be, I can play my part by doing artwork for all the things we want to add.
For example, we may all want cotton to be a new resource, if you want a cotton image that looks like the same artwork as the other resources in the game, then you can definitely ask me.

Snoopy... just like MMX, I would like the old gray mountains and hills with the old colored grass... maybe toss in your jungles too (they rock), but I kinda like the old forests... mostly, I really want the old grey mountains like MMX!!!!

Great job!
One thing...You missed the hill-jungle combination.
I'd post a screenshot if I could take one.

How about two types of mine:
1. Hole-in-the-ground with wooden pilings
2. Angled shaft with cable-car and winch mechanism like in modern coal mines.
Also, could you have the snow on just the trees (forest-tundra)
and not on the ground; it would make the picture less pixelated.
Same problem with that beige pixelation on some of the forests.

yeah, two kinds of mines would be nice if possible.
One type for grassland and plains with a hole/lumber/crane kinda thing. Open pit mine kinda thing.
One for hills with more of a conventional look.. whatever that is.
As it is the mines look like steamer trunks.

I'm using the files now, sn00py, and it looks like Civ3 had a facelift. I thought the original graphics were good but now they look great. (and this is coming from an anal retentive graphics artist)
Thanks for your hard work.

The roads are hard to see on your irrigation, they kind of blur in. Are there any plans for a road modification?

aha! I getcha now
well, no it can't be added, but.. it is possible to actually put other terrain in, except I cannot change its values, I can only change the look, and I can only put the terrains in certain places, meaning, you couldn't put the terrain where you wanted to in the editor, coz I would be changing certain terrains that mix with other terrains.
It's not so easy to explain, but it can be done, just won't work well at all..
I AM KING! finally..

sn00py,
Regarding roads, IMHO it isn't roads that are the problem, its railroads. When I first saw them, I guessed they in fact were superhighways, not railroads at all. Rather than the great loops they are, what if there were exactly the same shape as roads, but black instead of brown? Or better, the same shape but with crossties. Just a thought.

Yes, just the Grey Mountains with the ORIGINAL grass (not the neon grass)... that's what a lot of us would like to see!
PLEASE!!!!
