[...clearing throat...]
Ahem. Assuming I haven't been whooshed, I understand that it's a tradition to start an "I'm new here" thread. Not sure what I'm supposed to say, but I guess a brief introduction is in order.
I'm a long-time Doper (as in Straight Dope Message Board), and I've spent most of my time there in Great Debates, wrangling with materialists, creationists, and other aberrant philosophers. I spend some time in the BBQ Pit, because I like writing parodies.
In real life, I'm married (second wife), pretty old (mid 40s), but the heart and soul of a kid. I develop websites and related stuff for a living, and lately, I've gotten back into playing Civ. (Got a pretty great game going currently.)
Anyway, fire away. I have a pretty thick skin, and I can tolerate just about anything. Except ignorance, I guess. Any questions?

Hmmm... Too short for search... Wonder if I could deduce this. Lessee, "d!ck licker", "dung lover", "dingbat loser", "dumb liberal", "damn leech"... Hmmm.
quote: I have a question for Libertarian: Are you an objectivist? |
Of a sort. I took all the good stuff, you know the basics: metaphysics — objective reality; epistemology — reason; ethic — self-interest. But I discarded all the Ayn Rand worshipping, and all the weird crap, like the official esthetic and such.
But actually, I do refer to myself as a Libertarian Objectivist Christian.

quote: A communist? Funny thing is, people assume that we're dire enemies, what with Libertarians tending toward fiscal conservatism and all. But actually, the heart of libertarianism is its noncoercion ethic. So long as all are volunteers, I have no problem with a communist collective. Not my cup of tea, but hey, to each his own. |
Haha. Hmmm, thanks but I'm not really a communist at all. It's a "little" inside joke here, every European who votes for Labour, Green, Social-Democrat or any other left wing party is called a "Eurocom", abreviation of a European Communist. Apparantly the rigth-wingers here think it's offensive or something.
