The rating system was Solvers idea, and I want to see it go from Strength to Strength.... so PLEASE Moderators, make sure that results are posted.... Genesis results I note have not been posted.....

Okay Blackice, I rate you in all games yeh....Lung had posted results with you rated, which had two effects... It boosted Lung's score, and secondly showed you as low in Rankings, as this was the only game you were rated in.

Is it fair that people should only choose to be rated in the games they are doing well at?? PBEM rankings are not designed to show how well you do in a particular game, they are designed to show who is best overall. I only work out ranks, I guess it is for the Moderators of individual games to decide How there game works

Dugrik.... your game, your choice.... these are my thoughts, this is not a ruling.........If a player is rated in all games, and is doing badly in one, then it is encouragement to take up another to counteract it.... ALSO, the way the ratings work now, if you are doing well in other games, you will NOT go into freefall.... only 10% of your rating is staked in each game..... also in a six player game, if player 6 does not get rated, because he does not want to lose points - then it is the fifth placed player that gets hammered in the ratings.. is that fair?? I know that in PBEM there are no restarts for bad land, so what I would suggest is why doesn't the moderator reveal the map before the game starts, and decide whether the game can go ahead fairly??

I will not update this game until Nimrod and Dugrik decide.....

It was I done in "Happy Killers Revenges" game.
I've created severals game and I choosed the most balanced.

I've terraformed a player starting area who was swamps&jungle only and give him some grass land.

I hope the map is fair for all players now.

PN Marginally closes in on Lung, Swissy needs one victory to take third place from Klair, and Blackice Storms up into 20th place.

In the absence of word from Dugrik or Nimrod, Nimrod remained unrated this turn in High Voltage... I hope all players will be rated on next turn

That extra half an hour of effort before releasing the map to the players makes all the difference... And in such circumstances I think ALL PLAYERS who wanted to be rated at decision time should remain so throughout game... There is only one game I am in where I am not rated, and thats because I became a permanent sub - not because I am losing, I am in first place, and expect to remain there for some time- It just seemed unfair to be rewarded for someone elses civ

Swissy takes second place from PN, but a single positive result for PN will reverse the positions.....

I have a suggestion - IF the majority agree, isntead of losing points for a loss, the system can be tweaked easily so that you just gain a much smaller amount, but never lose..... Essentially at the minute everyone stakes 10% of their score on the game, and the 10% is deducted from your total, then the pot of points is divided according to position.... I could instead not deduct your stake from your scores...There is no chance of someone who is losing in 100 games taking the lead on the rankings! you score very very little for the lower positions.... What this would mean is that all players would stay rated, the best players would still be at the top, but no one will lose because of a single game where there land is bad, or they simply got ganged up on by other players... If Lung started in a new 8 player game, and came last - he would lose about 2.7 points.... under the proposed system he would gain, but only .2 of a point..... I cannot see a drawback to this proposal - but all game moderators ask on theor threads, and then everyone will have to go rated in all games!!

IS there a really bad case of apathy going round here?? I realise you all suffered from the lack of updates to the rating system, for that I apologise... I asked about a change to the ratings system to BENEFIT the game for everyone, and not a single person has responded, do people even want a rating system... It is a massive amount of effort, and I don't do it for self gratification, I am doing it because I love the game, as I assume others do.... IF people are not interested in a ranking system then it would be foolish to carry on with it.... Perhaps everyone lost heart when Quinns departed, I know it was a hell of a blow, but I find it difficult to do this just for the sake of it ...

I think we should test he actual system (how easy it is to update
weekly ...). Personnaly, I think the system isn't perfect but work well.

Let wait until the begin of the new year to begin to image how update the rating system. No need to be hurry.

I use DB,C&S System..... Database, Calculator and sweat system....

I guess I expect too much Zobo, most people just love playing, why should they be expected to have an opinion on ratings calculation.. I feel so lonely here in my little office......

I could automate the whole system, but then how could I possibly feel so sorry for myself??
