Did he at least kill a couple of feds in the process? I'm guessing not, unfortunately.

It'll be a lot more than talk if federal agents try to do take away my property or violate my Constitutional rights. I'm not gonna just go on a shooting spree, **** man come on.

Did I say that Asher? No, I said "if my Constitutional rights were violated"
I don't know the entire William Cooper situation - I imagine it was some bullshit though. I was mainly talking about myself in response to Sprayber there, though.

Indeed. The federal government has no business and no right in repossessing anyone's home, in my opinion, except in cases of eminent domain in which case the person must receive "just compensation" (5th Amendment).

Krazyhorse - quote: How is this any different from a judge ordering your home repossessed because you owe somebody $200 000 according to a private contract? |
Because you would owe someone, Mr Cooper did not owe you and me anything.
quote: Your home is an asset, and if you have bills you are unable to pay then it can be repossessed. Otherwise you could claim bankruptcy and yet retain all your stuff. |
Not when the tax man cometh. Well, I wouldn't be surprised if there are special laws for the politically connected to keep their stuff when it's the government claiming ownership.
Dr Strangelove - quote: Boy, some facts sure would taste real good right about now! |
I have all the facts I need - they claimed he owed them money, they shot him. Anyone familiar with Mr Cooper knows he wouldn't shoot first if at all. But for you folks who already think legalized stealing is okay, why would you doubt the government's version of the incident?
Ted Stryker - quote: Please provide a link to this story. I'm sure there are more details we did not get to see. Otherwise, this story is NOT credible. |
Hmm...a complaint about a lack of credibility coming from someone who just posted this?:
quote: You know, sometimes the only way to get criminals is to send the IRS after them.
Sooooo many crooks have been brought down through tax evasion because that was the only way to do it. |
So far, Mr Cooper has been compared with OBL, Tim McVeigh, a criminal, a crook ala Al Capone, and all by people complaining about "facts" not being posted? The information I have is what I posted, I saw a blurb about his death in some magazine.
I'd like to know exactly what I posted about his death (aside from my commentary) is out of context or unfactual/deceitful.

Dinodoc - quote: Anyone familiar with Mr Cooper knows he wouldn't shoot first if at all.
His involvment in the "Patriot movement" tends to cast doubt on that assertion, Berz |
Did Randy Weaver's kid shoot first? His so-called "involvement" with the "Patriot movement" was limited to broadcasting and writing anti-government information, not shooting or bombing government people or buildings. According to the link I provided, he did shoot. Whether or not he shot first or the deputy was hit by his comrades is another matter.
Krazyhorse -
No? No you cannot produce a contract upon which he agreed to pay/owe us money? Then don't give me this BS about him owing us money.
quote: Can you produce the contract in which he agreed not to shoot random people? |
Did he shoot random people? No, he may have shot someone trying to rob and/or kill him. You've already admitted you cannot produce a contract with his agreement to pay us money so these people were there to rob him, not enforce a non-existent contract.
quote: They're both prices of living under the protection of your government from foreign enemies and domestic criminals. |
If this was all our money was being spent on, he might have been paying taxes all along. My familiarity with him leads me to believe he would have been quite happy to pay the taxes required for these government functions.
quote: On a separate note, I wish they'd managed to kill him before he shot a cop twice in the head. He's an attempted-murdering ******* and got exactly what was coming to him. |
Even if they shot first? Apparently the facts are not as important as you would have us believe. I already know you think stealing is okay when it's the "government" doing the stealing so defending oneself from these thieves wouldn't matter.
quote: He owed money to the government of the United States of America (and by extension to every resident of the US), and the government has both a right and a duty to collect from him. |
But you already admitted you cannot produce any contract, so what you're endorsing here is legalized armed robbery and murder.
