Nine minutes? try like all day i saw that on another site it said to do that before you email them. Where are these updates by the way? I might just buy a new video card my SiS 3625 is kind of old but it meets the specs so i dont know. Is there any way to get like an external video card so i wouldn't have to have it installed and i could do it myself

also in the "start" menu

I updated windows man but what would be really great is does any one know if you can just turn off error messages cause there is nothing really wrong with it. Even though it says "Civilization 3 has caused an error in (unknown) and will now close" it doesn't close it just keeps popping up i could play the game fine if i could just get rid of it. Anyone know how and if you can do that cause that would be great if i can't get it to work by like wendsday i am returning the damn thing selling this god damn computer and getting a good old fashion telivision

Yeh the ina site was the first i looked at and i emailed them lon monday of last week i dont know why they do not respond. Why can't there just be some way to turn off error messages

the problem that causes them should be fixed , .....

say , can you make a screenshot of the error message , that would help

did you maybe by any chance downloaded the wrong patches , .....

send an email to www.firaxis.com themselfs , to Mike or Soren , .....

what about a bug on your comp , a virus , ....

did you turned off your security software or hardware during install , ......

click details next time

print screen and cut copy paste to whatever paint program you might have , ....

but it aint needed if you can give the exact number of error , .....

what happens or what do you do right before this error shows up , .....

how do i click on details it just says that and then the only other box is okay. I cant do anything like print screen cause the message freezes all of the commands until i close it i cant even ctrl alt delete i dont see any #. Before it pops up i do nothing i either open it from start menu or disc and it appears. In game it appears whenever i do anything at all. Thank you for helping me. I wish that someone at INA support would help. I have sent them 2 emails they haven't even responded i didn't pay seventy bucks just to have the game not work without any explanation.

I have a problem with the hotseat game. When I start PtW for the first time it all goes well. But if I, for some reason return to the Main menu I then cant host a game. I just get stuck in the Multiplayer Lobby, and klicking host has no effect. Sometimes it crashes, sometimes it just does nothing. Closing the game and restarting has no effect. Only reseting my comp helps.
Had this Problem since PtW was released and none of the patches helped. At least I can set the difficulty now.

what amount of ram do you have , ......

maybe you dont have the right software for a screenshot or your settings dont allow so , .....

anyway , send them a save in attach , and dont be agry if they dont respond , but if it can help you , they do read every single email (!)

and they are online often enough to have seen this thread by now , .....

Military Advisor screen is still slow...even after updating to 1.21f and updating my Hecules Prophet II MMX card drivers. not sure what else to do about this. Anyone have a fix?

Actually I had already been to those pages as they had been listed elsewhere and I did as they had suggested. Tonight I shall endevor to install the latest version of Direct X and hopefully this will correct the slowness.

the good old windows update , that should always be done before you install anything , .......

Ahh, the good old windows update...fails UTTERLY on my laptop...it won't download unless i'm actively browsing...otherwise it sits there and does nothing...on my desktop which has PTW on it, that PC has NO connection to the net...and thus can't update. any updates i do, i put on a CD and copy over...until I get DSL installed, i'm stuck this way.

anyway from what i know, this is a known bug and apparently not completely fixed either.

if it fails then there is something wrong , ......

and indeed it can work unless you go to the update server and download what is needed , ......

in some countries you can order a cd-rom and you pay only the postage for the updates from microsoft , others have a similar system , .......

you could always take a the laptop to a shop , a friend or cybercafe , ........

but how can the update server know what you need if you dont log on with it , this means you miss out on crucial updates that are different for each computer , ....

you really should go to someone with a connection asap , ......

actually i usually get a list from windows of things that need to be updated but like i said, when i click on it to start downloading the updates, it doesn't start. this list usually comes once a month (i think) listing the various updates needed.

go from either start or a windows screen , do this after a reboot and turn off all security software , you have to wait a bit and download a small program , after that you have to wait more till the server has found what you need , .....

in any case , bring a visit to this page > http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Panag, thanks for the advice but i wouldn't worry about it to much. i don't play civ3 on my notebook only my desktop and that PC doesn't have any access to the net yet. as for security software, my notebook doesn't have any that i know of. it's rarely turned on these days and not connected to any kind of network. when i do get around to getting DSL then i'll have to pay more attention to the updating. thanks.

Hi,

I've scanned this thread and not seen this problem anywhere, apologies if i've missed it. I bought the game a few months ago and after installing with no problems it refused to recognise that there was a cd in the d: drive. I checked out the official website and read something about there being a safedisk patch available for this problem - I emailed infogrames uk as instructed but never got a reply. Is there any other way to sort this out?

I took the game back to the store and got a refund but would happily buy it again if I knew I could get it to work.

This is more a problem with my new monitor and software than the game, a Samsung 190s and Pivot Pro, when I hit ctrl-shift-R, the screen rotates 90 degrees, and when it gets back to normal, there are 3 ghost boxes on the screen, requirign to boot the game entirely.

luckily disabling the prog in taskmanager prevents the problem, but it is extremely annoying.

Does anyone know why the heck, when I try to install PTW, the setup asks for a "data3.cab" file?? It doesn't exist!!! It happens when the installation progress is at 31% or 51%.

I installed PTW once and it didn't happen, but I had to reinstall it and now this sh*t!!!
