the only thing I've really worked with for websites is Microsoft Frontpage. Before I go messing around up there you got any suggestions, guidelines, a better program to do the uploads, or a quick tutorial?
thanks

Well, I guess the easiest way to use FTP is to download CuteFTP from a website like downloads.com. I don't actually use this program myself but it's supposed to be the most userfriendly FTP program out there (for non-geeks anyways ). I can't give you detailed instructions because I never used it but the program probably comes with some good help files or tutorials or whatever.
The basic idea (which is the similar for almost all FTP utilities except the most primitive ones) is that you start up the program, hit the connect-button (if a connect-screen doesn't pop up automatically) and fill in the connect info: the server, username and password (see my thread for these). If the program asks for other things, they probably don't matter and can be ignored. Then make the connection (I guess you just hit the Ok button for that) and an Explorer like screen will be visible. This window is split in two: one half shows your own pc and one half the Spaceports server. You can probably navigate both sites in the same fashion that you would navigate Windows Explorer and use drag and drop or whatever to copy files from one computer to the other. Many people seem to think FTP is something very difficult or scary but in fact, as you can read, it's as easy as eating pie (providing you use the right program)...
In case you can't figure CuteFTP out (unlikely but you never know) or never plan to use FTP again after you uploaded your files to the server (in which case it would be rather a waste of time to download CuteFTP), you can also use your webbrowser to FTP (or perhaps FrontPage would work as well, if you're familiar with it - I'm not): all you have to do is click the link I mentioned in my thread (the apolyton:[somepassword]@galileo... one). This should (after a few seconds) bring up a very Windows Explorer-like screen (which shows a map called public_html and a bunch of files whose name starts with a dot). In this window you can navigate the server in practically the same way as regular Windows Explorer except that you can't copy and paste the same way - or at least not in my version of Windows, might be different on your system. If not, you should right-click the file you want to download to your system and select 'Copy to Folder...' and then select a folder to copy the files to your own computer in the window that pops up. To upload files from your computer to the server, open a regular Windows Explorer window (or whatever you normally use to navigate your computer), find and select the files you want to upload, right-click them and select 'copy'. Then go the Internet Explorer Window and right-click somewhere in the empty space and click 'paste'.
Not all that different from CuteFTP and the like but webbrowser are generally much slower than real FTP programs (and slightly more awkward to use)...
In any case, be sure to read the READ_ME_FIRST.txt file (in the folder public_html) before you upload anything. Other than that, just play around a bit with FTP, it's not hard to use and as long as you don't hit the Delete button while you've got files selected I don't think there's any way in which you could possibly do any real damage (but even with delete you can't do any unrepairable harm most of the time). If you have specific questions, feel free to ask...
